About two months ago, I had blogged regarding a trip Amanda Vin and I took to Hawaii. During our first day there, I had noticed Amanda had a mole on the back of her leg that had changed drastically from the last time I remembered seeing it.Changing moles are never a good sign.We immediately Googled it and looked up as much information as we could. The mole was a direct match for skin cancer, specifically melanoma. At this point, we are one day in to a two week trip and completely overcome with f

A few years ago I shared this picture showcasing my office for the week...Well, Amanda and I are back on Maui but this time things are a little different. We're staying in the same place, but the office has a bit of an upgrade...To me, this is the definition of succeeding in this space.Amanda, Vincent, and I get to spend 2 weeks on Maui, hanging out, watching whales, and enjoying the long days. It's not all sunshine and rainbows of course.I call the balcony my office because I am still out here
I don't think I was ready to have a child.Well, let me clarify.I don't think ANYONE is ever ready to have a child. You can read every book in existence, attend every baby class, read every mom blog, and study until your brain can hold no more and you still won't be ready.Nothing really prepares you for what comes after the baby arrives.Enter Vincent...Today, he's a cool little 8-month old dude with an independent personality and a big cheesy smile with 4 little teeth. For a while though, he was a

I'm always interested to hear why people start their own business. Financial freedom and not having to worry about money are the obvious answers, but for me, it's always been about more than that.I want to make the most out of this life and this is what drives me forward:1. Never having to work in a cubicleThis is the entire reason why I started my business. I was a junior in college and had two friends come to visit. They had recently graduated and at one point, they began to brag over who wor
Amanda and I have anxiously been awaiting out first born to arrive. He was set to show up on June 3rd, but was a little too cozy in there and waited until the 13th to come out. After a brief 38 hours of labor, all 9lb 5oz of Vincent showed up without any issues. He's happy, healthy, and loves to be held. His hobbies include eating, sleeping, and having the hiccups.Amanda is doing great as well. No way would I have had the strength or courage to go through what she put her body through the past
(Warning: This is a rather long post where I give you some insights into my life, business, thought processes, and ideas. I started writing a short celebratory post and it turned into this long stream of consciousness where I evaluate and talk to myself quite a bit. I think there are a lot of good takeaways below and I hope my experiences running one website for 10 years will help you see the same level of success. -Steve)My site I've Tried That turned 10 on May 21st, 2017. I started it when I
Look, I get it. You want more backlinks. But I cannot think of a worse way to get one than to continually bother another website owner to feature a poorly made infographic that is not at all relevant to their own site's material.Maybe people have success with this kind of outreach and I'm just being rude here, but I get about a dozen requests to feature an infographic on my site each month, and not once have I even remotely considered it. Why? There's absolutely no benefit to me. It's not going
This was my fifth time getting to attend the WA conference out in Las Vegas. I usually blog about the trip when I get back and talk about the secret to getting to Vegas or I recap my goals and successes but this year, I have something different I want to share...Amanda and I are expecting our first child! Before you ask, we don't know the gender and we aren't planning on finding out until the baby is born. So, why blog about this?Aside from the obvious wanting to share the good news, I wanted to
I passed a pretty big milestone earlier this year and didn't even realize it. I had opened up my stats this morning and checked out the 'All Time' column and saw something that was quite surprising. 10,000,000+ people have visited my blog since I first started it way back in 2007. This is also coming on the heels of my 10th anniversary. That means I'm averaging over one million visitors to my site per year. What's my secret?I don't have one.I create content and publish new articles to my site 5x
