Valentine's day – good or not so good?
Hi everybody -
Just a short post to celebrate Valentine's day - February 14.
Undoubtedly many of you have heard or read a number of views on Valentine's day recently. Many, it seems, suggest it is a waste of time and essentially has no value in our current lives, except in a commercial sense.
My partner Bea & I are of the opinion that it is not a waste of time. Yes it is of course taken advantage of by commercial enterprises, but what part of our lives isn't touched by commercial enterprises these days. Take Christmas and Easter in the Christian calendar, Diwali and Eid in the Hindu and Muslim calendars and Hanukkah in the Jewish calendar - amongst many others.
With particular consideration to the times we are living in, having a little fun and spreading hope by showing others they are loved is something to be encouraged.
We have actually posted a blog on our site (Bekindbefriendly.com) and in it we thought we'd offer a SHORT history of Valentine's day.
As you know, a post on Valentine's day is not considered an 'evergreen' subject for blogging. It's something we're aware of but since this subject is particularly relevant to our 'be kind be friendly' ethos and we have fun doing these types of blog, we thought we'd post it anyway. Blogs like this do at least add to our page count, which can help Google rankings.
Whatever your views on this day, we wish you at least one Valentine to bring you cheer.

Jeffrey - Thank you for your comments and your wishes. We can indeed all celebrate - as you say :).
My goodness! We have days to celebrate hamburgers and pets and all kinds of things. I agree with you. A day to celebrate love or a relationship is a great thing. I am working on a Valentine blog for each of my sites. One great thing is that after the day is over, it can be reduced to a draft and then used the next year. My wife and I really enjoy Valentine's Day.
Jim - So glad to hear you and your wife enjoy Valentine's day. Also nice to know there are other like minded bloggers out there that like to celebrate the event by posting something. What ever brings joy to your heart and those you care about is worth celebrating. There's so much to happy and grateful about that for me everyday is "Valentines" day.

Roberta - You're right. We can overlook how lucky many of us are. It's difficult sometimes in the circumstances we're all living in. My partner Bea is much more tuned into this mindset. So happy to know there are others out there like you and Bea. Please stay that way and thank you for your comments and Valentine's wishes.
Bea and I have a lot more in common. One of my pet names is "Bee" .... isn't that funny.

Thanks for sharing this great post on Valentines day I so still believe in the lovie dovie situation, don't have a valentine beau but my family make up for that.
