Effective Habits that can lead to Success

Invest in yourself

When I think of investments, the first thing that comes to my mind are stocks and bonds, followed by a certain amount of risk. I’m not a stock expert, but I do know the difference between high and low risk investments and the potential for a return on that investment. Investing in yourself is possibly the best investment you can make where the return will be greater than the initial investment. It doesn’t take much - just small steps in the beginning in different ways, like reading good books, perhaps signing up for an online course, finding a mentor, taking care of yourself, both physically and mentally. While the ROI may not be measurable, it can still have an impact on all the other investments you make in your life.

Get Rid of Toxic People

We all know some toxic people in our lives that leave a bad taste in our mouth, whether they be friends, family, colleagues or strangers. They can leave us feeling so exhausted, drained and depleted that it would have been better if we hadn't spoken to them. The best thing you can do with these individuals is to avoid them if you can. And a personal lesson that I learned was to avoid sharing any of my dreams with any of them, less they talk me out of them.

Keep Building your skill set

Everyone can benefit from staying up to date with their skills regardless of what their field may be. For me personally, learning a new skill is not only stimulating and motivating, but keeps my mind young and active, especially with the changes in technology, different methods of communications and changes in the global market.

Hustle in Silence

This is a personal one for me, as I do the best I can to make use of every waking hour outside of work and sleep for self development or my side hustles. The full quote is actually “Hustle in Silence and let your success make the noise” - which says a lot, especially when others around you don’t see any results yet and want to criticize and discourage you from staying the course. I’m personally the type who has my nose in a book or keeps my eyes on a task rather than telling everybody and their mother what I’m working on.

Learn From Mistakes

This is another important step that I’m constantly working on, as I tend to beat myself up when I miss a goal, fall short by failing a test, of course, or any other failure in my life. We must develop the wisdom and good sense to not only learn from our mistakes, but to get back up and keep going the next day.

Staying Committed

It’s important to stay committed, even when things get tough. You may run into obstacles, or maybe realize that it’s taking longer to reach your goals, or that you may have to make some sacrifice and work harder. But it’s important to keep your eyes on your goals. I find it helpful to stay committed if I revisit my goals (short term and long term goals) along with remembering my “Why”. Remember to be dynamic - or like Bruce Lee once said - “Like Water” - to be able to adapt whenever possible. Take a break if you need to recharge and keep yourself from getting burned out, then get back out there.

Happy Friday everyone, and stay safe!

Isiaah 😊

Loved your post Isaiah. You raise some pertinent observations that we would do well to heed. Not necessarily in tune with your post but I like this one from Mr.Lee.

“It's like a finger pointing away to the moon. Don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.”

Yes - that's a great quote, Twack!
And Mr. Lee makes a profound point 👍

Thanks!

He was much more than many realise.

Very well laid out, Isaiah! I'll bookmark these for future reference, my friend!

Enjoy your weekend! 🐶🐶😾

Thank you very much!

Thanks Claudio!

What a great bpost Isiah and I agree that investing in oneself is vital for success.
I love “Hustle in Silence and let your success make the noise” and one of my favourite quotes came from Winston Churchill when he said "Never Give Up, Never, Never Give Up"

Cheers

Rick

Thanks Rick - I enjoy Winston Churchill's quotes too!

Great info - and I have always loved Bruce Lee quotes too. His "Like Water' quote is one of my favorites.

Your idea to just do what you need to do and not worry about trying to convince others - or "Hustle in Silence" as you put it - it a good way to be.

There is another old saying that I like " Loose lips sink ships" - and though it originated during wartime and was meant literally, it also applies to everyday life.

It is not for everyone to know or have a say in everything we think or do. It is better to just do what you need to do and not worry about everyone else and trying to appease the varying opinions of others.

Instead, it is far better to simply focus on doing what needs to be done and on keeping moving forward.

Thanks for a great post and have a wonderful day today!

Best regards,

L.D. Sewell

I appreciate the feedback L.D.
