Keep on Truckin'!
When I was a little boy back in 1973, former Temptations member Eddie Kendricks scored a Billboard number one hit with “Keep on Truckin’”, my only reference to the term until recently when I discovered that the term was popular long before Kendricks’ hit song was recorded. According to the Urban Dictionary (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Keep%20on%20truckin%27), these words were meant to encourage people to stay true to their chosen path, don’t be discouraged, and let no outside forces divert them from their destiny.
This term comes to mind whenever procrastination rears its head and I need to get back on track working towards my goals; but I also think about apple caps, bell bottoms, men’s stacked heel shoes and Soul Train while I’m humming this tune, but that’s me, I grew up the 1970’s. Just thought I share a favorite encouraging phrase I use to lift my spirits.
