Moving from Bluehost to WA. Feeling a bit silly . . .
I'm feeling just a bit silly . . .
I have been waiting for weeks to be able to move one of my domains from Bluehost to WA. There were time limits on access for moving from Bluejost to WA.
The time limit ran out so I headed off to Bluehost to change the name servers to WA. Well . . . . I couldn't work out how, so, I got in touch with the Bluehost support who advised I had to change the nameserver back with the registrar. Hmmmm . . . . so it seems I could have done this weeks ago.
The registrar of my domain is Godaddy. I headed to Godaddy and by just changing the DNS there it was all sorted in less than 5 minutes.
Newbie lesson learnt. If you need to move a domain from one host to another you just go to where you registered the domain not where it is currently hosted.
Hope this helps someone else.
Cheers,
Ingrid

I bought a domain name with GoDaddy once and they didn't notify me that it was time to renew and just sent the charge through my bank without any notification causing it to bounce. I had them reverse the charges and the bank did not charge me an overdraft.
I tried to transfer my website from Bluehost to wa and now it's gone. no one seems to know where it is. I tried to contact Site support several times but I never got an answer. Bluehost told me that they still have the domain but actual website belongs to wa .what am I supposed to do now?
Did you transfer the site itself or the domain? Can you tell me what the URL for the domain is?
I guess you know I am not knowledgeable about domains. I renewed the domain for 1 year with bluehost recently. Bluehost told me that the actual website is now located on WA. WA never actually notified me that they have the site. I can not find the website on the website pages. I just need someone to find the website and release it for me and let me transfer it back to Bluehost. I had it there for a couple of years and had no problems except lack of website design skill. I do not plan on renewing my premium membership again, so I want the website back to bluehost. Can you help me?
So if the domain is at Bluehost then you just need Bluehost to point the domain back to their own servers. If you go to Websites>Site Manager is your website listed there? If so you should be able to export it and import it back at Bluehost.
Can you tell me the domain name? I'd like to take a look at the records and see where it actually is.
No the site is not listed anywhere on wa there is a note that the transfer expired and they refunded my $38 .
Bluehost actually has a live operator for customer support she said the actual website is located at wa. Bluehost has the domain still but not the website.
That's odd...I wonder how they're determining that WA has the site..is it simply because they're pointing the domain to WA? If that's the case that just means WA can have the site but doesn't mean it's actually here. That would be like me forwarding my phone number to you and them assuming I'm with you.
thanks for that info but what do I do now is my website Lost? do I have to start from scratch?
Ok...I can see the registrar is fastdomain.com and it’s pointing to WA’s name servers. That means the site can be here but it doesn’t mean it actually is. If you go to Websites>Site Domains, is it listed under Other Domains? If not then the site isn’t here the domain is just pointing here..if it is, the next step is to go to Websites>Site Manager and look for your site there. If it’s not there, your site isn’t here at WA.
Thanks Ingrid for this very valuable lesson. I have to sites I'm considering to move. This is of great help to me.

BlueHost gave steps in backwards order. Transfer Domain first = BlueHost locks to their Name Servers? No on tech chat to have them complete it. Each time I contact BlueHost for help I get help, however it always seems to be goofy and requires me to contact again?
