An Update on Drones
I just read that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ruled that realtors or other commercial entrepreneurs who use drones must comply with all FAA rules, and they must be certified by the FAA as commercial operators. I have no idea what is required in that, but I'm pretty sure that there is red tape involved.
There is a "hobbyist exemption" from the FAA rules that excludes model airplanes weighing 55 pounds or less when they are used for hobby or recreation. They must also be in the direct line of sight of the operator. The FAA has ruled that a realtor who uses a drone to photograph listings is not included in the hobbyist exemption. It doesn't matter that the realtor is not getting paid to take the photographs. It is not just a hobby.
So all you prospective drone operators out there, BE AWARE!

Interesting. Drones have become part of our vocabulary. I wonder if that is a niche market :) Keep up the good work.

My grandsons have remote control helicopters that they fly around in the back yard. I'm not sure I understand the difference.
