What's the advantage of using WordPress versus something like Squarespace? I'd like to hear your opinions. :)

No competition imarquez Squarespace kills wordpress in every manner. But you gotta pay. I have built numerous websites for myself and others on numerous platforms and squarespace is king. No disrespect Kyle but I think if you looked at Squarespace you would not have the same opinions.

Squarspace definitely does have some interesting capabilities and I do think that WP could take some guidance from their actual editor, as that is one advantage. The sheer base of users and developers on Wordpress though is a definite advantage, the community is absolutely worth a good deal to the users as Wordpress tends to evolve rather quickly in terms of extended functionality and design capabilities.

Thanks for the feedback Kev, it is nice to hear feedback from an actual user. I do like the overall UI and design of Squarespace after taking a look at it.

We are advocates of Wordpress and that is what we use here.

Wordpress is a much more credible and trustworthy framework simply because they have been around so long and there are 10,000's of Wordpress developers working on improving the framework at any given time (because it is open source).

This means that Wordpress has over 1,400 templates (free) and over 10,000 plugins/add ons (free) along with an entire ecosystem of more advanced paid templates and plugins and a massive community of millions of users....and an entire community here at WA that can help if you ever get stuck with the technology.

So I guess what I am saying is that you are MUCH better off using Wordpress.

Thanks for the reply, Kyle!
Since I posted this I did more research and found exactly what you just said. Looks like there is a huge community, and tons of resources and support. Also, WordPress is a lot more powerful than I has originally thought!

Yeah, it most definitely is. Proprietary website builders like Squarespace, Wix, Webs, etc...simply cannot compete with open source platforms like Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal (with wordpress being the easiest of these to use).

You will not regret using Wordpress and this is what our Website Builder platform is built off of here at WA.
