Matt Cutts: Best SEO Ranking Factors 2015
Here is a video I caught last night where Matt Cutts talks about SEO:

Aside from the issue of mobile traffic (which should not be news to any of you anymore), one thing he said here that caught my attention is (and I will paraphrase it as best as I remember it):
It's getting to the point where it's actually easier to be real than to fake being real.
Time and time again, it comes down to the same thing. Forget the tricks and loopholes, because Google always catches up to them eventually.
- Want to have blog posts that rank well in Google? Then write good blog posts that genuinely help people.
- Want to get traffic from social media? Then post helpful content to social media and genuinely interact with people on social media.
There aren't really any shortcuts that are going to work long-term. Sorry to break the news to you, but you are going to have to take the long route. The best thing is to learn to love doing it. Learn to enjoy writing blog posts, creating videos and all the rest of it. Because that's what you're going to be spending your time doing.
If that's not for you, go buy some lottery tickets. Let me know how that works out for you...
