Website to offer online writing services

I have been considering doing this for some time...my website on camping and hiking has not really been successful monetarily though I love it. To make extra money I have been writing blog articles for Upwork and that is going quite well. I am looking at developing my own writing service website so that I can get clients directly. Has anyone else done this? Any ideas or advice? I have a vague recollection of someone here doing this and would love some guidance. Thank you!

I would continue doing what you are doing with Upwork so you can make money on the side while you find ways to monetize your camping site. Since you love your camping site and I can tell you do, don't allow that to fall to the wayside in favor of starting a website about selling your writing skills. Do what you love most and make that your priority. It sounds like to me you would be choosing to do a writing website to make money instead of that being your passion.

I am really trying to move away from my full time job that is driving me nuts. I do love my camping site; I am just not sure that it will ever generate any real income. Which is okay, but I wonder if I should sort of move on. Upwork has been keeping me very busy and in fact my work on the site has dropped off quite a bit as I focus on upwork. Perhaps if I could believe that my site could ever really earn much I would give up the upwork and focus solely on the camping site. It is really hard to know what to do and how to proceed!!

You have to first build your own name before they recommend you to someone else Ilyssa, then you can certainly get much more business, usually writing for one client is a great way to gain that trust and recommendation.

I have a few long-term upwork clients that are very happy with my work; however one of them is doing exactly what I am wanting to do; so I am thinking "why not get the business myself and earn more of the income"? I will send you my site; I admit though I have been a bit lazy about it since I discovered Upwork. I hate to admit it but the more instant gratification is nice. In six months i have earned over 3k through freelancing and my site has earned about $20 in 15 months : (

Im not selling it though ! :-) I think ultimately it will make me more money than he offered me.
