Do Bloggers Take Days Off? Are They Allowed?

In order for a blogger to make money online, they need to write and publish content and then when they are not posting, they should be thinking of new ways to promote their blog, if they are not posting or thinking of ways to promote, they should be editing their past work, finding ways to make all their prior work even better, to get more views, more readers, more sales, more money! That is a lot of work in order make money, and after all that, you have to wait before you actually see any real profits.

That is so much work to see profits, why do you think only 5% of online businesses succeed? There is so much work in order to see profit.

So the real question is... Do Bloggers Take Days Off?

I mean that is a lot of work that has to be done in order to be successful, sorry it is pretty hard, but guess what... Your blog, Your Online Business, Your Hard Work, All Your Efforts, they are all on your own schedule, done when you want, how long you want. If you want profits fast, you better be working your fingers off everyday. I know my typing speed has increased 10x since becoming a full time blogger.

If you want to type your fingers off, go right ahead, that is content you are giving Search engines. That content will get ranked and all that effort will pay off... eventually. Even if you work your fingers to the bone you still have to constantly keep your blog updated, leaving the question again.. Do Bloggers Take Days Off?

Now lets think about taking days off... If you were one who published post after post of quality content, day after day, eventually, your work will start to pay you... a lot. What did you set out to do when you became a blogger? Make money, right? Well now that your effort is paying off, you can take as much time off as you want. You still need to keep an active blog, but once the days of financial freedom or just enough to do what you want, come around, all the time you put in will be worth it.

Now, what if you are not one of those bloggers who worked their fingers to the bone and maybe you put out one post a week. That is perfectly fine, your efforts will just take longer to pay off, but guess what, as long as you keep putting out great content, you will start to see results. This way you can take all the days off you want!

So, why did I post this?

I have been working pretty hard on my sites lately and finally I said...

I AM TAKING DAYS OFF!

This weekend I did not do any work on my sites and I would like to say this is my second post today, I am refreshed and ready to take on some more blog writing!

It is fine to take a day off, walk away, forget about sitting in front of your computer, enjoy some fresh air.

The more you give your mind time to relax, the more it can produce ideas! If you are all stressed out, do you expect to write some quality articles?

Hmm mm....something isn't right...isn't the whole point of working from home to control our hours and enjoy "life". If we have to continuously work to make money...what is the point? Unless, of course, writing is what you love and that is what you want to be doing. I'm all for taking a day off...but I'm not earning any income from online either. Can the two co-exist? Debbie

The more effort you put in, the faster the profits come, the more days we take off, the longer it takes. We will all succeed eventually, but how hard we work will determine how fast! :)

I know what you mean. I have been writing and blogging since 2012 and find it very hard to take a day off. When you work from home, there doesn't seem to be a cut off time, and of course weekends aren't sacred either. I am constantly creating content, editing content, re-working old content and trying desperately hard to respond to all comments. I feel guilty if I take a day off, as if I am slacking. Mornings disappear into afternoons, and evenings dissolve into night. Sometimes I forget to dress or eat properly.

A big problem I have come across as a result is repetitive strain injury. My body is quite messed up at this stage. I now have a standing desk as my hip bones were locking from sitting for long periods. Also, my fingers protest painfully by becoming stiff and uncooperative. When I repeatedly hit the wrong keys over and over, it is time to log off.

If there was a steady stream of income coming in I might allow myself to relax. Until then, nothing for it but to keep pushing.

Wow... you need some time off! Have you not been using your blogging to make profit? 2012 that's 5 years of blogging.

Hi Kenny! Great post I do think it is good to refresh the mind and recharge the batteries. I think ideas flow better that way. I'm curious as to what your thoughts on content creation tactics, i do think it is important to create the majority of content ourselves but how do you feel about guest posters, automation and outsourcing content to fill the void?

I prefer writing my own posts, but I have paid for a few posts to be written for me. Any freelancing website will have eager writers ready to make $5-10 for writing you a 1500 word post. You just have to find someone that writes a way you like. :)

Interesting so out of curiosity how often wpuld you post once a week?

I try and do a new post everyday, 2 if I can! :)

Wow that's a lot! A big commitment but im sure very rewarding.

I have 4 sites now, 3 of them affiliate sites, I put a ton of effort into my first two sites, but I started a 3rd and its almost 3 months old, I have high hopes for this site, I have been doing a new review every morning, it will pay off eventually!

Nice, im still trying to figure out the review aspect. I want to focus on providing info and with that comes a promotion of a particular product. Would you say reviews would work better giving comparisons of products? Just picking your brain here, heh.

I decided to put a ton of work and do an individual Nerf Gun Review for every Nerf Gun on Amazon, I have a bunch to go, but I then link them all together in separate posts "Best Nerf Gun For..." "Top 10 Nerf Guns For..." Once you have the reviews, you can link them however you want. You want to show people you have an opinion, If you can show someone an opinion on a website, most people believe it. Correct Or Incorrect, that is what the internet is about. The more truthful you are, the less you have to hide. If that makes sense. My sites are on my profile. :)

Great I will check them out! Thanks!

It is important, nay, crucial to take time off every once in a while.

It refreshes you and gets you back in focus. I do a lot of writing, every day. Some of it is for my website and much of it is for other people. (That is how I pay my few bills, anyway)

So: Can I take a day off; Sure (I rarely take DAYS off.)

As long as you are still eager to type, in all means, Continue! But there are always times where you get tired, and must relax! ;)

I didn't say I didn't get tired; I take a nice nap every day!

Whether you take a day off or a few hours each week it gives your brain time to digest what you have learned in the process. It's like working at the gym, too much and you just wear yourself out. Variety is often the key to keeping a fresh mind.

That's a real good comparison! Too much mental work and you get worn out, too much physical work and you get worn out. Got to take time to recover and relax! :)

Hey - you make some really good points about how much time you spend on your own blogs! I'm reatively new to this and am finding it really addictive! I feel like I have so much to do on my site and I'm trying to put every waking moment into it - but I guess because I'm doing it for me it doesn't feel like a chore as such. I'm actually really enjoying it!

Enjoy your days off!

The effort you put into your blog will only add up and over time you will look back and say wow, I wrote all that, then you can write more! Keep learning and never stop enjoying this opportunity! :)

I'd would have to say, " no," until your somewhat established.

Great information to keep in the back of your pocket.

Question? How do you find the topics to write on a daily basis? Is it about your niche or just general day to day occurrences? How long does the post have to be? and do you have to use keywords?

I'd say yes, that you do have to still use KEYWORDS so the search engines can locate you. Can you answer the other three questions?

Kindly,

Becky :)

You can never have too many product reviews related to your niche. 1500+ words is great for SEO but less is fine if you are giving helpful info. Find a keyword that has traffic to it, add more words to make it a catchy title then write the whole post about the topic with the keyword in the title! :)

Thanks Huffman!

Becky :)

One of the very wise WA'ers said that what he does is write extra posts when he has time and he saves them for when he needs some time off.

I don't know if you can post date a blog or not, but if all you had to do was post it and not compose it, that would help when you need some time off.

Glad you took some time for yourself.

Cheers,

Susan

That is a great tip! Especially for when your site is older and you just need to keep it active. I find it kind of hard not to post it immediately after putting the effort into writing and adding images.

Yes, I agree. Whatever you just create feels fresh and ready to roll out.

I think I would find it hard to not post it right away, too.

You are making incredible headway! I am glad you allowed yourself a little time off. You deserved it!

Susan

From time to time even a young man like you Kenneth has to take a break.
I limit myself to blocs of work. I might advance slower than if I would work for 24 hrs. strait and then take a break. But I'm in a rhythm that fits to me. And that is more important.

A rhythm awesome if you can get into one. I've gotten into one to post at least one post each morning, then the rest of my day to fix whatever else I can! But this weekend was a well needed break! :)

The answer is yes. A blogger controls what they do and what they don't feel like doing, where they work from, how often the work, what they write about, and what they want to do for fine.

The life of an internet entrepreneur is a very exciting one and a lot of fun, but there is still work required as you state. What you put into, you get out of of your business. But you also need to have fun and days off, that is a very important motivator as well.

Thanks Kyle! You would be the best one to support my post! Your the one that taught me to build a blog and I just use my work ethic to keep on working on my blogs! But we still need time to relax! I can't wait for the more exciting days ahead! :)
