I learned from Zig Ziglar many years ago that we should live life with intention, but while doing that also design a life filled with inspiration, intention, gratitude, balance, success, and giving back.

As an affiliate marketer, getting caught up in the hustle is easy—chasing commissions, managing campaigns, and seeking that elusive "next big sale." But true success isn’t just about financial gains; it's about designing a balanced, fulfilling life.

Zig Ziglar, one of my favorite and greatest motivational speakers of all time, believed that success is the entirety of something that must be considered instead of just its parts. His timeless wisdom can inspire us to live with intention, gratitude, and perseverance while achieving our professional goals.

Here are a few powerful lessons from Zig Ziglar to help you design the life of success and balance you deserve.

1. Success Is More Than Money—It’s About Balance

Zig Ziglar often emphasized that success isn't measured solely by what’s in your bank account. “You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles,” he famously said. This message is particularly relevant to affiliate marketers, who often work around the clock to pursue business goals but sometimes at the cost of personal well-being.

To achieve real success, Ziglar advised creating harmony between different aspects of life—business, family, personal development, and health. When you ensure all areas flourish, your success becomes sustainable and rewarding.

2. You Get What You Give

One of Ziglar's best-known quotes is, "You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want." This principle translates beautifully into affiliate marketing.

Rather than focusing solely on your sales, aim to provide real value to your audience. Whether through helpful content, honest reviews, or product recommendations that genuinely improve people's lives, your success will grow as you help others achieve their goals.

Remember, long-term affiliate marketing success comes from building trust and delivering consistent value to your audience.

3. Keep a Positive Attitude Through Challenges

Affiliate marketing isn’t always smooth sailing. There are setbacks—declining traffic, failed campaigns, or even personal struggles that spill into your work. Ziglar’s philosophy on attitude couldn’t be more relevant here. "Your attitude, not your aptitude, determines your altitude." No matter the challenge, maintaining a positive, solution-focused mindset is critical.

Zig believed that when obstacles arise, we must change our tactics, but never the decision to achieve our goals. For affiliate marketers, this means being flexible and persistent—adapting strategies as needed but staying committed to long-term success.

4. Goals: The Blueprint to Success

Without clear goals, success remains out of reach. Ziglar believed goal-setting was crucial: "A properly set goal is halfway reached." For affiliate marketers, having concrete, actionable goals—reaching a certain number of clicks or achieving a revenue target—keeps you focused and motivated.

More importantly, Zig encouraged us to consider who we become while achieving those goals. It’s not just about the end result; it’s about the growth, resilience, and character you develop along the way.

5. Stay Grateful, Stay Grounded

In the fast-paced affiliate marketing world, it’s easy to feel dissatisfied—always chasing the next milestone or commission.

Ziglar reminds us to stay grounded in gratitude: "The more you are grateful for what you have, the more you will have to be grateful for." Practicing gratitude doesn’t just enhance your outlook on life; it helps you stay connected to your purpose and keeps you focused on the positives.

Zig Ziglar’s teachings are timeless and offer profound wisdom for affiliate marketers. Whether seeking to improve your business outcomes or strike a better balance between work and life, Zig’s core principles—balance, giving, attitude, goal-setting, and gratitude—will guide you toward lasting success.

Take these lessons to heart, and you’ll find that success is more than just hitting financial goals; it’s about creating a fulfilling life on every level. Zig would say, "You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win."

Amen to that!!

Start today by designing your life with intention, and the results will follow.

Good morning Howard,

Thank you for your informative blog post, it's appreciated.

I must admit that over the years, I have heard lots about Zig Ziglar and yet I don't know much about him! I just looked up on Google and glanced at the Wikipedia page.

I do really think it's important to get the balance right between work and play. It's good to work, and I can't stand not doing anything, but at the same time, we need to rest and take a break from work.

Helping others is always something that Wealthy Affiliate has taught, I definitely agree with that. I guess this is why I disagree with AI a lot of the time, as reviews and blog posts need to be genuine and about a real experience rather than AI's take!

We have to stay positive through challenges, if we don't, we can get held back massive time. I believe that everyone faces obstacles, but we have to be overcomers.

Goals are probably something that I'm not brilliant with, I have a to-do list, but I wouldn't say I particularly have goals. I guess that this is something that I need to work on.

I always think being grateful, has to be good. When I look at you, Howard and other members on the platform who are successful, I admire them for making it happen! We have to be action takers!

A great blog post, Howard, thank you.

Roy

It is always good to find mentors like Zig Ziglar and others who can help us reach those goals.

Have a fantastic day.

Thanks for stopping by, Walter!

I also enjoy Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn, and Anthony Robbins.

Yep, I first hear about Zig Ziglar back in the early 80s. It was my introduction into sales.

Thanks for sharing.

Rudy

Me too, Rudy!

As an early entrepreneur, I found Zig through my Amway business in 1986. I had never heard of him before then.

I saw him live several times . . . Amazing presenter!

Have a great day!

Ha! I wqs selling (sic) Hoover Vacuums...one of the sales team guys was a Zig Zigler fan, and would share quotes.

Never had the opportunity to see him live.

Rudy

Hi Rudy!

Zig was a master at finding people's problems related to the items that he was selling and showing them how his wares could solve their problems. He was a true master!

I had a Kirby vacuum salesperson Zig me, and it worked! LOL

I have always used this approach in my business endeavors: Solve a client's problem—get the sale!

Ha! Zigged....grin.

Yep, solve rhe problem, get the sale.

Great philosophy!

Rudy
