I have just finished placing a link from a post to a review. The link works fine on my laptop but not on mobile. On mobile instead of linking directly to the review it links to

it opens here, likely to be a cache situation, you want to clear both browser and server cache or try the URL in a different browser

You can also empty the server's cache.
Websites > Site Manager > Details > Sitespeed > Empty site cache

https://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache

Thank you.!
To make sure I re-entered the link and cleared the cache but the result is unfortunately still the same. It’s as though my phone assumes that I want to log in to my site?

I can see it on my iPhone; I have no issues. All the URLs seem to be okay... It sounds like your browser is stuck on the WordPress login page. That's why cleaning the cache of both browsers and servers will solve the issue.

The link should work exactly the same irrespective of the device you are using, as a link is a link.

What is the URL of this post, and where is the link. Perhaps you could share that Howard so we could test on our end here as well. :)

Thank you Kyle. The URL is sixtysevenandup.com. It is from the post “how-to-learn-how-to-learn” to my Wealthy Affiliate Review. It is seamless on laptop but not on mobile.

Yeah, there is an issue with your link:

https://sixtysevenandup.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=21&action=edit

That is what you have set-up. So you will want to edit that, users won't have access to this, as it is a link to your "admin" area of editor (unless you are logged in, you can't access).

So edit the link, this is what you will want to link to here:

https://sixtysevenandup.com/wealthy-affiliate-review/

That I have done and I have also cleared the cache but still I get a WordPress sign in screen but only on mobile, not on laptop?

In my haste to get going I have written a few posts with the author named as admin. Is it possible to change them to myself?

In the user's tab, please type your first name, then choose it from the drop-down menu, saving your changes.

Or add a new user in your name and assign it Admin privileges. Then you need a different email address to it.

Thank you

Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it!

I changed the admin to myself and my name comes up as author on the home page blog roll but admin still comes up as author to individual posts after I have zoomed in?

In addition a block has appeared at the top of the published post with my name and a slug to add a picture. How do I add a pic and a tiny bio to that area? Plus the typeface of that block is far too prominent. It overshadows the headline of the article?
Thank you!

You may need to empty the browser cache, refresh, and try again. You can also try the URL in a different browser or mobile device.

You can also empty the server's cache.
Websites > Site Manager > Details > Sitespeed > Empty site cache

Also, are you using an author bio plugin or something?

Please can you give us your webeit URL to have a look, thank you.

Np :)

Thanks for all your help.
When I click on my name at the top of the article it brings up my name again, this time in large print together with an empty photo slug. It is too prominent particularly as I already have an about me section in the top menu. Can I retain my name as author while also dumping this link?
My website URL is sixtysevenandup.com

Hey Howard,

To change your author's name from admin to, let's say, Howard... see screen prints below...

Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you!

Certainly. Open your dashboard as admin and go down the right hand side and you will see users. Then add new user. Note you will need a new email address it cant be the same as admin. Fill in the details, and give yourself Admin privileges. Click save. Login as the new user and go to all users, open admin and under the details it says delete , delete admin

Thank you!

anytime

This tutorial by Kyle is class 4 entitled ‘Making Search Engines Love Your Website. Within it Kyle describes how the ‘Site Kit By Google’ is already embedded to your new site. He activates it and a window pops up saying that the site kit plug-in is now activated. That new window has a ‘start set up’ button within it. Problem is that since this training was initiated the plug in, prior to my arrival, has already been activated and there is no longer a welcome screen from Google. The Plug In is there and says it is activated but I cannot add my g mail account or do the other things necessary to set it all up! Hope this makes sense to you!

You need to activate and set it up :)

If that's the case, you may deactivate, delete, reinstall, and activate it. Then, follow the instructions above.

Thank you for following up. I actually did that yesterday and it worked! Yay. I also had to disconnect the proxy server for everything to work properly.

That's fantastic, Howard; I am glad you got it figured out.

Is it possible to stylize just the tagline within my website (published to the right of the logo area) by changing it to a different font and adjusting the type size? I am at

I hope this has been figured out. Please keep us updated :)

you maybe lucky and find under appearance>>customize >>typography the tagline font....
but if we know what the site url is we maybe able to help with som ecss if necessary...

Thank you! My website url is sixtysevenandup.com

you can add
.site-description {
font-family: cursive, serif, fantasy;
font-size: 15px;
}

to appearance>>customize>>additional css
the font-family is the one to change and the size if you want to....
but not all fonts are available - have been playing with them and if they come up green then they are valid....
if you add a google font you may need to host it locally or be in contravention of hte gdpr regs....

the reason for more than one font is if the browser doesn't support one it goes to the backup...
font size can be included or not if you want to make it bigger

don't know about you but i like - see image

so you would add

.site-descrption{
font-family: cursive;
font-weight: 800;
}

to appearance>>customize>>additional css
and publish...

Thank you for going to such lengths to help, I appreciate that very much although I must admit that that approach is a little out of my area of expertise. I guess that it must be a little complicated to do for a reason? All I really wanted to achieve was to add the tagline to the immediate right of the logo and to use it as a kind of flourish that immediately describes what the site is all about. Perhaps it should have been part of the logo itself.
What do you think?

i think i know what you are saying....
you could try this ...
you may need to mess around with the numbers for the tagline and the logo
but you should be able to put the logo above the tagline...

.site-description {
font-family: cursive, serif, fantasy;
font-size: 15px;
position: absolute;
top: 80px;
}

.header-image.is-logo-image {
position: absolute;
top: -19px;
}

I am using Generate Press in WordPress and am attempting to place items at the very top of the page and to the right of the logo as illustrated in the training. I have renamed

I hope this has been figured out.

The layout could possibly relate to your theme; what theme are you using?

Thanks for responding, my theme is Generate Plus.

That's great. :) You may want to move your WA review under its own heading, as that would be your first recommendation. Just an idea here.

Later, you will do categories; You can hover over posts and click categories.

Create as many categories as you like; don't forget to add the slug.

Then, you can head to Appearance > Menus, and provided you create a menu first, you can start adding those categories.

Then, you can head to your posts and assign them to their respective categories. You can assign a post to more than one category.

So, when folks click on a specific category, they can see all related posts.

might be worth exploring this area under customize

Thank you!

no worries...
it is a pain to find some of the customizations...

Hi Howard,

Make sure you set the menu to the Primary menu, see the screenshot.

If you have done that and it is still in the wrong position, you need to adjust the theme by going to:

Appearance > Customize
Layout > Header
Then activate: Use Navigation as Header (see screenshot)

Regards,
Jay

Thanks Jay
