Finally No 1 on Google
I Googled one of my articles today and to my complete surprise it showed up first in the search. I was delighted, not to say gobsmacked. I wrote it in September.
Thanks to everybody here for helping me to comprehend what SEO is all about!

It can be difficult using google search to get accurate rankings on your own pages. If you don't use an incognito (or private) browser window, your personal search history can give you very misleading results.

Checked with a friend and from their computer, I am no 1.
I think that Google Plus posts are probably slewed but this appears to be is legit.
