Do you have a FREE social media plan?
One of my favorite lessons in the Online Entrepreneur Certification training was Kyle's Lesson 1 in "Mastering Social Engagement."
"Pinterest"?
First off, I learned a lot about the value of certain social media I'd overlooked.
For instance -- and I can't recall whether it was in this training or elsewhere -- I learned the
value of Pinterest, which allows pins to be constantly "refreshed," as opposed to Instagram, where a post can get somewhat stale or at least hidden.
You all who know social media better than I know what I'm trying to say...! LOL
Bottom line: I learned that Pinterest wasn't just a pretty face. Its beauty is backed up by strength.
A plan
Another vital part of the Module was coming up with a daily plan for social media use. Like many of us, social media usage filled empty spaces in my day, or I used it as a distraction.
It has since become a strategic tool that I use to reach my audience.
My daily plan is as follows:
- Write content by 8am weekday mornings (all times Central)
- Post to Facebook by 8:15am; goal is engagement on FB and click-throughs to website
- Post article's featured photo to Instagram by 8:15am and put article link in Profile. Goal is to direct people to website
- Twitter: post an affiliate link to training at lunchtime and links to join WA. Goal is to share only, not spend time engaging.
- Post to Pinterest: by 8am weekday mornings, for engagement & click-throughs to site
- LinkedIn: goal is engagement and networking; post by lunchtime
- At lunchtime: check email and engage with comments/replies
- Before dinner: check email and engage with comments/replies
So... do I keep to this plan?
Not 100%.
But, does the plan help me have a system to structure my time and help me avoid wasteful time on social media?
Yes.
And best of all: it's free. No hard costs.
And I learned that it helps to have a time in mind for each posting and also a goal: do I want to simply share something? Or do I want to create engagement. I have to decide, so that I can create and track the post accordingly.
Master social media; don't let social media master you
And, in addition to using social media wisely, there's the "social" side of Wealthy Affiliate.
Kyle has a segment on "The Benefit of Being Social at WA" that's worth checking out if you haven't done so already:
Be Social on WA; Be a Part of this great Community!
Just as our contributing to the social fabric "out there" (Internet, social media, etc.) with quality content can strengthen community, so too being "social" here by creating blog posts and training articles and sharing them on WA can strengthen our community for everyone's benefit.
Cheers, everyone.
Have a great weekend.

Thank you for sharing. I like your daily list with the time schedule. I should add a time schedule to my day. I sometimes just fly by the seat of my pants...which is not a very efficient way to fly! (Plus I go through a lot of pants!)
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!

I have the same feeling that social media has a heavy work for me. I have 9-6 day time job. I am planning to schedule all my social media post at weekends. In this case, when I off my job, i can follow it and engage them on time.
Another thing I read this morning, by @ecocatherine, was how to plan your articles around your schedule.
Here's her first of two articles: How to Publish to a Schedule Cheers!
Thanks very much for your sharing
