Need to vent.
Feeling frustrated is an understatement.
I received an email from one of my affiliate programs that they are reducing their commission rates from 8% to 0.5% during the busiest month of the year!
Not only that but they gave less than 24 hours notice. Where most of the programs I'm affiliated with are increasing their commission rates for this month, they've gone ahead and basically gotten rid of their commission.
This is a program that I send quite a lot of traffic to daily but obviously, they don't appreciate their affiliate marketers. I've sent them a strong-worded email but I doubt it will make a difference.
Oh well, I better start changing my links...

That does not make any sense, friend. I would think that they would need more affiliates during the busiest month of the year. I don't see how that is beneficial to them.
That's their loss. Don't let that one be your only source. You'll bounce back with other affiliated sources that are in need of affiliates. All the best!
So sorry to hear that.
That's not a nice thing to be having especially at this time
Hopefully you will find another one soon
I've found other sites that sell their products so I'm in the process of changing my links. It's just a cheek on their part, but I guess I shouldn't waste my energy being angry!
In the long run, they're the ones losing out, I'm sure I'm not their only affiliate who's changing all the links.

Couple things you can do here -
1. Are they the only company selling this product? If not, can you find an alternative source with a better commission rate?
2. Is there a competitors product you like as well, so that you can modify the copy and swap out the links.
3. If there are no alternatives you'll need to decide if it's worth the lower pay scale or else just modify or remove those articles.
Yup it's a pain, and it doesn't happen often, but sometimes it does. It's highly unlikely that the original merchant will re-instate their original commission rate.
Wish I had better news, but at least it's the truth.
The company is a makeup brand, but thankfully, I have found all their products in other online shops like Sephora, Ulta and Space NK.
The weird thing is that my most clicked link is not updating, even though I have changed the link. I don't want to reindex the page in search console because my article is number 1 on google. So, I'm still sending them some traffic, but I'm thoroughly enjoying watching most of the traffic going to other shops!
Unsurprisingly they didn't reply to my email, which shows how they value their affiliates. They said in their original email that the change in commission is only until 5th Jan, but you're probably right that it won't go back to 8%.
That original company doesn't deserve to have good affiliates. Glad you've found an alternative!
