So right away I want to let you know that I am asking for your experiences...

Unfortunately, I am freaking out a little bit, and I have an appointment all set up with my doctor, however, I have a week and a half to wait.

I have done research on what is happening to me, however, you never want to look up on the internet any of your symptoms, because no matter what, you are "dying" of some horrible disease.

Granted, this may be serious, but I do not want to spend the next week and a half having anxiety and wanting to rush myself to the emergency room, ESPECIALLY since both of my brothers will be arriving tomorrow for a weeks visit and do not want to waste that time in the hospital...

I want to know what other women's experiences have been, maybe yours has been similar to mine. Even if it may be a slightly scary situation you have been through is ok, because I find that as long as I have "knowledge" of what may be happening, even if it is scary, at least being forwarned helps keep my anxiety down to a managable level.

THE SITUATION I AM GOING THROUGH

I had my normal female menstration from May 13th to the 20th, and yes this is normal for me. I have always been on time and on schedule, with the exception of ONE time where I was under so much stress that I skipped my period for one month. Only to go back to normal, the next month. This was 6 years ago.

So from May 13th to the 20th was a normal period. Then one week and 2 days later on May 29th, I began a very light bleeding which stayed very light up until June 5th. On the day of June 5th, the bleeding has become a little heavier, but not by very much at all. Until today, when I used the restroom to find that it looks like a normal menstration cycle happening.

This entire time, I have been feeling mild cramping every day since the 29th. Not painful where I cannot function but it is quite an annoying feeling.

I also want to make you aware that I am 42 years old, I have had 2 children (natural birth), do not smoke, but I do drink once a week, maybe only once every two weeks.

PLEASE LADIES!! HELP ME OUT, have any of you had anything similar to this happen?

Heather,
I did not go through menopause until I was 48. I had a similar experience. Matter of fact, these weird periods happened for about another 2 years. I really struggled and was constantly worried that the doctors missed something. I continued through menopause for 8 YEARS!! After the initial 2 years with weird periods, I spent the next 6 years having horrific hot and cold flashes. That was the most bothersome for me. I was advised to go on hormones, but I chose not to because I was afraid of cancer. Unfortunately for me, I still got cancer when I turned 61. My best advice is try not to stress (I know it is easier said than done), see your doctor and have all of your questions written out so you can get answers. In life, we have to take each situation as it comes. Just take it one step at a time. Keep us posted on what your outcome is! TAKE CARE!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!

I am so sorry for your struggles, makes mine sound so minor. I will send you all the positive vibes that I can, and again, Thank you.

All of this does help out when recovering from my fear :)

This is exactly what I went through when I started menopause. I was 40 at the time. After a while the bleeding took longer pauses and then disappeard totally. I don't know if this is the same for you, but it sounds like a typically start of the dreaded menopause. It is always different from person to person, so it is wise of you to let your doctor check you out, but I am sure you have nothing to fear. Good luck and let us know what he says.

Thank you Marith!! I don't seem to have any other symptoms other than described.

This also helps me feel better, immensely!!

I didn't have any other symptoms in the beginning either. Later a got the hotflashes several times a day followd by pricking on the top of the head. This lasted for about ten years, but it got less and less over time. I had no other problems, so I guess I was lucky.

I must say I have not had that happen to me, however, my daughter (44) is going through the same thing now and her dr said she's going through peri menopause. No, I do not think you are going to die and the internet can scare you to death.

This is a critical, if you will, time for your body and everyone experiences menopause differently. My daughter had 3 children natural, does not smoke and drinks maybe once a week as well. So, you are a lot alike and I can only go by what she is experiencing and her doctors diagnosis.

Hope this eases your fears some.

Thank you so much for your reply. I don't really think I am going to die, but I am anxious of course because the internets explanation of everything is mindboggling.

I don't mean to sound dramatic, but it really does help to hear when others are going through something similar.

I hope your daughter comes out "on the otherside" healthy and happy!! and again, thank you so much, your reply was very helpful.

The whole thing can be very scary. I thought I was seriously dying when I got my first cycle because no one told me. Same with this. Everyone will go through it differently. Gotta love being a woman! Who said we weren't strong????
