YouTube? Yikes!

So yesterday, I received a scary package in the mail.

I had forgotten that in a moment of uncharacteristic (this is a lie, I'm totally this way) impulsivity and confidence, that I had purchased a phone holder for my desk to shoot top down videos of me stitching.

For YouTube.

In front of people.

I've never edited video in my life.

What was I thinking?!

Well, I stared at the box, and realized the more that I looked at it that my posts, in particular my stitch guides, tutorials, and "You Can Do This!" posts, were really not their best, unless I was showing people what I was telling them.

So, into the video world I go. I am ...absolutely terrifed to ever show my face on camera, so that might have to wait, but my hands will be fine, right? RIGHT!?

The ultimate goal for this blog is to help people - and help people I will. I know that I learned all of this by watching YouTube videos - so why don't I make my own, and put them all in one convenient place!?

My question for all of you - what is the best way to do this going forward? A few short ones on the blog and then a more in-depth course for sale? A "subscriber" email video set? What have you seen that works best, and helps you sustain?

Thanks and Best,

Hilary

Hi,

I think you should show your face. You will attract customers to you. I suggest building up your traffic and view numbers before you offer anything for sale.

You will receive comments for each video. Respond to every one of them positively. And build relationships.

This will do two things. Build up your confidence so you will make better looking videos. Attract more viewers and subscribers. In this way you will have a base to offer paid lessons to,

Hope this helps.

Edwin

I am staying away from the Tube beatie for just about the same reasons that you seem to be able to confront.

Good luck

Sorry I haven't done YouTube yet. So no answer. I'm sure you will do great.

Thanks Mick! I'll keep you posted how it goes!

I do not have any Youtube or sewing experience but, you have a beautiful face! Don't be afraid to show it!!

Thank you so much! :D I might try it sometime >.<

I absolutely love this because I've been putting off jumping into Yourtube for about a month now I love your writing style so I bet your speech patterns are the same & people will love you!

Unfortunately I can't give you any advice on where to start but I would check out some How to Start on Youtube videos. Sunny Lenarduzzi has some great ones!
