Why use lead capture pages!
You will want to use lead capture pages because they work.
People really don't buy on impulse as much as you think.
The average person sees an ad about 7 times or more before they opt in.
Types of lead capture pages:
Most common type is information and then a form to capture them as a lead.
Some are called landing pages or splash pages.
These may or may not have a form to capture name and email, but have a link to take you to a form page.
Members that are surfing on traffic exchanges prefer splash and landing pages,
so if they see something of interest they click the page and it reloads
on another tab, then later they optin.
Lead capture pages are most powerful
They are your silent partner, building your list.

excellent post and spot on with what you say landing pages work really well and have done for years
As you say In Traffic Exchanges they are brilliant for getting leads
Another good point you cover is the buying point
We are in the Direct Response marketing business primarily and people buy emotively after a minimum of 7 exposures.
That is why WA like other Direct Response business's. Works well
Great point well presented
