To all my Friends and family who observe the Orthodox Easter, wishing you a Blessed Easter weekend.

Spending tomorrow Easter Sunday with family and having lunch together.

It feels a little strange to celebrate this year's Easter 4 weeks late. Maybe next year we will have it at the same time.

Happy Easter 🐣

Good morning Helen,

A very happy Easter to you!

My wife is from Greece and I am from the UK, so we almost celebrate two Easter's! I have learned a lot about the orthodox church over the past few years. I come from more of an evangelical/Pentecostal background.

Are you from Greece, Helen? Although we live in the UK and I absolutely adore the English countryside, I also love the contrast of Greece. The Greeks are lovely people, they have lovely food and live in a great place and climate!

Have a lovely Easter.

Roy

Thank you Roy for this lovely message. Yes I am Greek and live in Australia. We celebrated with a family lunch, lamb and the red eggs. Best wishes.

Hello again Helen,

It's a pleasure, Helen! I believe there are quite a few Greeks in Australia, we saw a program on Amazon prime from a Greek living in Australia. He was travelling around all the Greek islands, the programme was made very well.

We have the red eggs sitting on the table here too!

Whereabouts are you from in Greece? My wife is from just outside Thessaloniki, it's great as I can be there in under three hours by air, in normal times.

I always look forward to my trips to Greece, I actually don't look forward to coming home as we have such a great time. The last day in Greece before we come home to the UK, reminds me of when I was at school and we were approaching the end of the summer holidays, I dreaded going back! I think that must mean I like Greece!

Have a great Easter,

Roy

I know that feeling Roy re the last day before going back. My parents were from Crete and I was born in Athens. I haven’t lived in Greece since I was two, as we moved to east Africa (Tanzania) until I was 12 when we came to Australia. I have lived going back to Greece and feel that I belong.
Great talking to you.

There is something good about Greece Helen! I haven't been to Crete, although it is somewhere I would like to go. We spent one night in Athens in 2018 visiting the Acropolis. We had the privilege of going by train so that we could see the Greek countryside from Thessaloniki to Athens. It was a good experience.

I'm looking forward to visiting Greece again soon.

Good to chat with you too.

Have a beautiful Orthodox Easter
Helen.

May you have the glory of this
season... the prospering power
Easter.

Blessings to you and your family.

Elizabeth

Wishing everyone who celebrates this day, A Happy Orthodox Easter.

Wishing you all the best in your Easter Orthodox celebration Helen. Apart from the timing what are the major differences?

Same beliefs Hugh, the differences are, the way we celebrate. The whole Holy Week prior to Sunday, there are special church services, we prepare and bake Easter bread and dye eggs mainly in red colour to symbolise the blood of Jesus on the cross. Midnight church service Saturday and braking of the 40 day fast for those that have fasted by having soup after the service. Sunday traditionally lamb on the spit and the whole Shabang. This is the Greek Orthodox way. I hope I haven’t bored you.

Certainly not. You have provided me with a mini education. Thank you
