Why do you want to be your own boss?
I have just written a post for my blog on the cons of affiliate marketing. It may seem a bit counterintuitive when I am trying to attract new referrals to WA but, of course, WA can help with a lot of those cons!
One section was concerning whether you could be your own boss. Many people dream of being self employed rather than having to answer to a boss but is being your own boss as good as it is cracked up to be?
Many people who are self employed spend a lot of time working on their own. There is nobody around to have a bit of banter with or to help or support you when you are struggling.
You are also responsible for absolutely everything when you are your own boss. This includes everything from filing your tax returns to making sure there is enough coffee in the kitchen to keep you going!
The big one for me is being motivated enough to put the time in when there is nobody asking why something hasn't been completed. It's very easy to think I will do it tomorrow.
WA obviously gives us the help and support that we need, there is always somebody able to give you the answers you need. Livechat can also help with the banter at times!
However, I feel the motivation is very often up to ourselves. WA blogs can be very uplifting at times but getting myself to my keyboard and writing that post is up to me. I tend to bribe myself by saying that when I have finished my tasks for the day I can play solitare for an hour! A simple pleasure I know.
So what ways do you have of motivating yourself?

Yes, financial freedom is important to me too, Simone. I don't want lots of material things but just want to know that I can look after myself and those around me.

I've been my own boss for over 30 years! It doesn't always achieve financial freedom though--it is very hard and consistent work to be self employed!

Yes - I think many people have a romantic idea about being their own boss and don't think about how much hard work it is.

You are absolutely right, Hazel!
