Now what?
Okay guys, so I have a pretty good niche, and an excellent keyword, Well, a few of them. What is the very first thing you do? In the past (and present), I put together a website and follow it up with an article or two. I get some traction, but my CTR % is terrible, and I'm looking for some of your opinions on how to get more exposure. I write genuine articles that aren't too salesy, I think. I now my website needs work, but I haven't found a free theme that does what I want it to yet. Thoughts and input are greatly appreciated!

At some point you'll need to provide a call to action. Otherwise traffic you are sending is kind of going to waste. This could be adding them to your list, i.e., for more tips sign up to our newsletter - or something like that. A list is always a good idea for your situation because you can continue to build a relationship with those on your list and when you occasionally do sell to them they trust you more than some random site they stumbled upon.

I can't really help you content- or strategy-wise yet, since I am in the beginning phase myself.
What caught my eye, though, was that you explicitly wrote that you didn't find any _free_ themes that do what you want them to do.
After looking into this for some time myself I finally opted for buying a professional theme just yesterday. I am not trying to sell you anything here but I believe that it can be a good investment to get a professional/commercial theme especially if you are unhappy with the options of the free ones you've found so far.
Usually the professional themes sell for something around $30 - $80 and sometimes you'll even get two for the price of one. And you can use most of them on an unlimited number on domains.
This might not be the answer you were looking for but I thought I'd at least give you my $ .02 on this subject since my head was busy in that area lately anyway.
