SEO and a winning platform or how marketing made a difference.
At Wealthy affiliate we have long been driven by a choice between Yoost at Yoast and Torbet at All in one SEO
Going with the WA training, I changed to All In one and was reasonably happy along the way.
I noticed recently that Jay the head trainer has gone back to Yoast (maybe he was always there) so I decided to do a review on the product as my own research.
What I discovered surprised me.
Yoast had grown so fast that it is know double the size of All In One.
The marketing at Yoast is really slick and they even managed to get me to upgrade.
They have lifted my understanding of SEO by following the instructions and I know just want to see results.
The last site that I abandoned to focus on the SACS Challenge, a Yoast site, was number one on all three carriers and my new site (130) post is nowhere near that.
I have just spent a few days on the change over so now await results.
My problem came when many of my keywords did not come across from All In One and it was only later that I found the bulk fixer.
Yoast Marketing is really good, the product is excellent and the results top-level.
My take on this is that marketing wins over a good product any day.

I have used both All in One and Yoast for several websites (both my own and client's).
Both can do some great things but I by far prefer All in One.
The suggestions inside Yoast can be helpful but I have also many times seen people that do not quite understand how to use them correctly end up getting some wrong ideas about SEO because they did not know how to interpret the data and suggestions critically.
Also, Yoast has had some serious technical issues over the last few years and has had updates that have hurt literally thousands of websites where the owners lost A LOT of there traffic due to technical errors with Yoast.
For the technical reason alone, I know many big marketers do not use Yoast anymore.
As for why Jay uses it, I think I remember he said in a webinar several years ago it was because it had an upgrade function with some redirects he needed that could save him a lot of time.
With Yoast, there are courses which explain how to use it correctly and when it is results are very good.
It does not change the fact that they have had some serious technical issues over the past few years that have really hurt some websites.
But both plugins can definitely be good and a lot of it comes down to personal preferences.

Interesting post Peter. I too have migrated back to Yoast from AllInOne, for many of the reasons you have highlighted.
One of the major benefits that Yoast has, which might be the same for you too is that they actually show you how to structure Your SEO content in such a way that it gets liked by the search engines slightly quicker.
The traffic light system, initially can be annoying, but when you get used to it and understand how its helping you, then there is only benefit for your website and in turn, we write better copy as well finding another niche for ourselves.
When the courses are used, you also get an understanding of which is the best type of theme to use as well and combine that with this platform, as you say, you have a winning combination.
AllInOne is good for those starting out so they get used to SEO, but like you, as you progress with blog build out Yoast becomes a natural and needed evolution.
I have it on all my site currently, bar one, but that will be changing
