Name 5 things you have done to change your life, this week
This idea comes from none other than Elon Musk—a challenge he put forth to all public servants.
Yes, it was met with criticism, ridicule, and even outright dismissal. But it was also applauded and embraced as an idea of real merit.
For those of us who are consistently productive—churning out content, refining strategies, and pushing forward—naming five meaningful accomplishments in a week is second nature. It’s just part of the routine.
But many people operate in a trance, doing things out of habit, obligation, or necessity, never questioning the process. They stay within their comfort zone, sticking to familiar patterns even when those patterns aren’t yielding the results they want.
I recently took on a challenge to write a blog post every day for one of my websites. The catch? I had to follow a method I wasn’t comfortable with. It went against my instincts, and at first, I resisted. But the person setting the rules had more experience—and had made a fortune doing exactly what he was teaching.
He was right. The results proved it.
I stepped outside my comfort zone, tried something different, and saw real progress.
Elon Musk is issuing the same kind of challenge: If you can’t name five things you’ve accomplished this week , you have a problem.
At Wealthy Affiliate, where this blog is based, change is constant. Some updates you’ll welcome, others you won’t—but either way, you’ll have to adapt. Your ability to embrace change will determine your success.
The comfort zone is like a sandbox. It feels safe, familiar, and easy to play in. But while you’re building castles in the sand, others are out there building bridges—expanding their reach, adapting to new realities, and forging a path to success.
Growth requires discomfort. It requires stretching yourself, even when it hurts.
So, here’s my challenge to you: Write down five things you’ve done his week that moved you forward. Commit to this exercise every week until it becomes second nature. Be your own toughest critic. Ask yourself—why am I doing this, and what am I doing to improve?
Because like it or not, the world—especially the online world—is evolving faster than ever. And it won’t slow down for anyone.
You have two choices: Run with the change or get left behind.
Which will you choose?
