Some tips for those starting out.

Hey all. With only one day left until the new year, at least in my time zone, I thought it'd be nice to share some of the things I've picked up in the short time I've been with Wealthy Affiliate so far. This is a compilation of some of the useful tips I've come across and I hope they help you out as much as they help me.

1. Protecting your content.

As you get going with your website, you'll discover that even simple posts can take a bit of time to write up so you don't want unscrupulous bloggers stealing your content for themselves. As there is with anything on the net, there's probably no surefire way of stopping someone who's determined enough to do this but you can definitely deter people by disabling the ability for people to copy your content within Wordpress.

2.Submitting your sitemap to Google.

Apparently, one of the most important ways to get Google to pay attention to your site is to submit a sitemap to the search engine. It sounds really simple in theory but I found it an absolute pain. I followed the official lessons on the subject. I checked out alternative tips provided by other members on Wealthy Affiliate. Nothing worked until I came across a simple solution provided by 'That Helpful Dude', yet another one of the great people here.

3. Checking out the competition on the Keyword Tool here at Wealthy Affiliate (for Premium Members only)

Probably my only real issue early on with Wealthy Affiliate was with Jaaxy, the keyword tool that is introduced to members fairly early on in the training. Since it's made by the kind folks behind Wealthy Affiliate, I assumed full access to this tool would be provided with the premium membership package but that's not the case. If premium members want to use Jaaxy, they have to pay $19 a month just like everyone else.

However, there IS another Keyword tool provided to premium members that we can access here at Wealthy Affiliate. At first, it seems like a pretty poor alternative to Jaaxy but that's not the case at all. In fact, once you know how to use it, you won't need to bother with Jaaxy again.

In fact, the member who made this next training lesson uses the WA keyword tool exclusively and is doing just fine. Check out Boomer's lesson below:
