Protecting Your Website
Protecting Your Website Content
I don’t know how many times I have been asked to take a looksee at WA members sites and found great sites with fantastic pics and images and the text content second to none.
Anyone browsing through these sites would soon realize that there has been a lot of hard work and effort put into creating them.
Do you know what’s not fantastic about all this creativity?
The owners of these great sites have missed out one very important component after they have built them.
They have not protected their work.
This means that anyone who has a mind to can come along, highlight any and all the text they want and use it for themselves. The same goes for any pics/images.
Of course you might be well pleased that someone likes what you have created so much they have copied it. Ok be pleased but why should someone else get the benefit of your hard work, and what’s more important. Why should they get paid for something that belongs to you and could have cost you many hours of blood, sweat and tears to create, and how do you stop this from happening?
The answer is simple. Protect your site, and to that end below are the instructions to do so.
In Wordpress go in to your Plugins section
Click on ADD NEW
Type in the search box - Wordpress Protection
You will get a choice
The first one is usually considered the best
I always use
Wordpress Protection Lite
Once you have your choice installed
Click on its Settings and
Tick or Untick the things you want or don't want the plugin to do
For example
No Right Click
No Copy and Paste
Once you're happy with it
Click Update
Go to your site and test it out and if it works then your site is now protected.
This protection will not affect any links you have on your pages/posts. You or your visitors will still be able to follow them.
Have an excellent day or evening people and leave a comment below to let me know that what I have said in this blog has not fallen on deaf ears.
If you have difficulty finding the plugin then here is the direct link to download it -

I've already had someone steal one of my posts, my best one in my opinion.
Listen to how I found out.. I had that Site Rubix website plugin on the page, the code given to me here at WA for the reader to enter the domain name they want to see if it's available. Well whoever it was that copied my post took out all of my affiliate links, of course, but left in the siterubix code, which had my WA affiliate link in it, which was masked through a Pretty Link. So every time someone visited that page on the other website, it showed up on my Pretty Link Hits, with the website URL. I was able to find out exactly who copied it and reposted it. Since then it's been deleted, or redirected somewhere else.
I've really considered putting that Siterubix code on every one of my posts, but your way would probably be easier.
Thanks Robert for this valuable information.
Angie.
Angie I personally know very little about codes of any kind so I find something that works for me and has a proven track record. So far the one I mentioned in my blog has not let me down.
Give it a try and you might find it works for you as well and if not there are a few others you can choose from.
Have a nice day/evening.

No Probs. Make sure you use something to protect your site asap and if not the one I mention then there are others.

I always wondered how to do that. I hare adding another plug in though. Thanks for the information, Robert!
Jean I'm almost sure I told you how to do this a wee while ago or maybe it was something else entirely.
I'm getting on a bit now and the memory does tend to go as you get older lol.
Have a nice day or maybe evening over there in South Africa.
It is SA isn't it?
See the memory is definitely going lol.

Old age comes to us all Jean and isn't it funny you can remember stuff that happened years ago but 5 minutes ago and you're lost lol.
Have a nice day.

Good catch Robert. I've been using a plugin called "WP Content Copy Protection", which works very well, but can be a bit of a pain. It pretty much disables any effort to copy content, and as part of that effort, it disables any right clicking on the site.
Soooo, if I want to "inspect element" to chase after a CSS problem (or any of a number of other site maintenance tasks), I have to disable the plugin first. Perhaps it's time for a change...

No Probs. Whatever suits you is the best one for you to use. I use the one I mentioned and it hasn't let me down yet.
