Just 7 More Days Of Peak

That's the time remaining until I can get back to a regular schedule for working on my WA goals. A few of you may know from my profile that I'm a FedEx Ground Delivery Driver. Right now, I'm working 6 and 7 days a week, 12 hours per day to deliver all the Christmas packages you guys are buying online. At FedEX, the time between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve is called PEAK. At our terminal alone, we deliver close to 60,000 ground packages a day. All the delivery vans are loaded floor to ceiling with every conceivable sized package. Drivers can't even walk back through their delivery vans.

I handle bulk shipments, i.e., the big, the awkwardly sized, heavy packages and multiple packages for businesses. Items such as steel bed frames, sofa sectionals, weight room equipment, trampolines, tires (auto, truck & tractor). My driving peers are mostly male, between 21 and 35 years of age and are strong and healthy. This is where my challenge comes to play. You see, I'm 72 years old and for the most part healthy. However, I'm not as strong and as flexible as I was when I was 30.

When I come home I'm exhausted. After dinner I make up 3 ice bags. One for my lower back, one for my neck & shouldlers and one for my knee. I then go to bed hoping that all my pain goes away by morning. I've got to get up and deliver packages again the next day. Wash, rinse, repeat.

"Why are you doing this?" you're probably thinking. The answer is I have to. We don't have enough money for retirement and to fix up our home to sell. That's the reason I joined Wealthy Affiliates. Becoming a successful online entrepreneur is what drives me to do what I do. I can probably keep up the physical strain of my FedEx job for maybe the next 3 years. Hopefully, my online success will come prior to that.

Right now, it's impossible for me to spend the time on WA that I had been before "Peak". However, the light at the end of the tunnel is January 1, 2020. That's my target date to get back to spending my evenings working on my WA training and blogging. The good news is that my website has been indexed by Google. I've published one blog and I've started Level 3 of the Certification Training. It's not where I'd like to be but it is what it is.

I use Jim Valvano's V Foundation slogan "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up!" as my reminder to keep going.

Merry Christmas WA Community!

Fred has quite the plantation thing going on. Do 8 hours of work so you can get 4 hours of pay. Only in Memphis could it work.

We need balance. Health is more important.

Wow, Larry--a lot of work, my friend! Congrats on starting level three--here's to your great success in WA in 2020 so you can quit that back breaking job!

Jeff

Larry Larry this sounds like torture and please don’t get yourself in the position where you have more money but no health to enjoy it.

Hi Larry,

Thank You for this first post of yours, as well as for still being in the workforce at Fedex to deliver our packages. I know you oh so look forward to being able to have more time to work on your site. I have been there before and I'm sure it will happen to me again.

Sorry to hear about the aches and pains you have to suffer through every night after working. As Marvin Zindler use to say on my hometown local news station use to say it's hell getting old.

Congrats on your first blog I enjoyed reading it and look forward to your next one. Keep up the good work my friend.

Take Care,
Mac
