Is it hard for you to ask for help? It has always been tough for me.

Why? Well, a couple of reasons. If I'm honest, I don't like looking dumb. I also feel like I'm probably bothering people when I ask for help with doing something, especially if I have to ask more than once. I assume anyone else would understand right away and be good to go.

But here's what I'm finally getting:

- NOT asking for help is really the dumb thing. If I don't voice a question, how can I expect to get an answer??

- Most people like lending a hand. And very few people I've talked to refuse to repeat something they've said.

- It's a little unrealistic to imagine I'd pick up everything first time. I learn a task best by being taught and then doing it myself, and that takes a little more time. But I end up remembering better that way, so it evens out.

Bottom line: When someone asks me for help, I want to respond. So why wouldn't others feel the same?

I've already asked for help here a few times, and received generous responses. And because I reached out, I'm moving forward. I hope I can answer a few questions for others sometime soon!

yes you have described how others feel and if people have questions and do not want to feel dumb or bothering others they can do what I used to and find a person that makes you comfortable and pm them it worked for me all the best Max

PMing is a great idea, Max! I keep thinking I need to do that and haven't figured out how yet. But that takes away a lot of the self-consciousness. Thanks for the thought! :)

Well said Heather. I think many people feel the same way. I used to be embarrassed to ask questions. But, not anymore. And, I feel if someone is not asking questions, there is likely something wrong.

I love helping others and teaching. The great thing about it, in my humble opinion, is that the more I teach others, the better I am at the topic we are discussing. And, invariably, there may be a new development that I will also learn.

Lastly, one thing I have learned in my life...there is Always someone who knows more and we all should strive to learn more.

Thanks for sharing!

You're so right about learning as we teach. And why cheat ourselves of the wisdom someone else has when we can be blessed by it instead? Have a great day PJ! :)
