Good day to you all…

My last post were about how i personally struggled with depression and my mental health after given birth and at the same time my husband was deployed to United nations of Congo on a safe keeping mission. Okay that was almost 12 years ago..

My little one turned 12 years old on the 6 th of January this year. But today i wanna talk about my eldest daughter Megan and as said before when starting and joining this group i wanna talk about real personal mental health issues concerning myself my loved ones and people closes to me. My eldest daughter who just turned 24 years this year also had her fair deal of dealing with mental health issues and depression issues, i think all her anxiety started when she started university, a couple of years back pursueing a career in Law anyway to make a long story short, she is currently busy this year with her LLB which is excellent, But the amount of pressure and sleepless nights also had a great deal of input during these years, It all started with the anxiety she developed when writing exams and the need to succeed, we managed to cope and treat all of that accordingly with the help of pshycology and a few prescribed medications here and there, So that is under control…..

So this year new years eve she lost her best friend , the person that started her whole varsity years with her and the person closest to her , this year she lost her keeper , thats how i always refered to him , he was not only a friend to her but also a brother and son to the whole family….He was a family member…He drowned while trying to safe a 12 year old boy who was busy drowning, As a mother i am can see the hurt and the effect the whole sadness of loosing him has on her…So yes i can see again how anxiety, then sleepless nights then depression is slowly starting crawling back into a battle together with my whole family we prayed and fight our way out… Depression gets easily triggered by the smallest thing of hurt that life throws at us, luckily I a have a few vital experience to fight this illness, i dont allow her to sleep more than she is supposed to , you have to keep on talking about feelings most imprtant, adress the hurt even though its hard, keep her busy , i let her cry and i even tell her to cry and let everything out , and most of all because we

are Christians we pray and we pray and pray,…. What i am trying to tell you guys is that you must not let this illness have his way for too long, tackle it by the horns from the start as soon as you recognise the signs.

You are never alone …. i hope this can help someone out there…

God Bless

Everyone reacts differently to losses. There comes a point when we must stop grieving and look on the memories with fond thoughts.
I've not had depression and can imagine its difficult to shed, but we must.
Good post.

Thank you for sharing

I am no stranger to anxiety and depression myself, so I do understand how it can ruin our lives.

I am happy to hear your daughter beat this. Once you experience these two mental health disorders it is very easy for them to take over your life.

Wish you and your family the best,

Praying for you
Jeff

Thank you Jeff for your reply, jah Jeff this illness is real and we need to be aware of it and also make others aware, it does not help being silent at all...

Hello Gwynneth

I totally agree with you.

Many people are too ashamed and embarrassed to reach out for help many times, but thankfully today more people are helping themselves by seeking support

Keep me in your prayers

Jeff
