Beyond Facebook....
Facebook has changed a lot over the last couple of years. It's getting harder to keep up with friends as my news feed is crammed with ads & opinions that pay fb for my attention. This latest messenger debacle is an example of how little real people matter to the corporation, the value of which was built on all the information and access given to it by those same individuals. Just to give you a little insight on how Facebook runs: all users of Facebook are free users; meaning, they do not pay anything to be members. Each member's estimated worth is $165. They make all of their money off advertising, games and services provided to all of us. There are currently over 2.2 billion Facebook users and their last quarterly worth was $192 Billion dollars. I didn't receive any of that and I'm guessing you didn't either.
Last month, Ralph Nader was interviewed on CNBC and made this bold statement: "Facebook users should get paid!" http://www.cnbc.com/id/101811450, the next day a friend contacted me and told me about an alternative to fb that was being developed: IQKonnect
IQKonnect is a new social media platform that is about to go live. It is the first platform that is rewarding it's users. The only way to join, is through a current member which is what I am. Thanks you for the invitation, like the structure, but I am not gone join it, I'm not the type for nor facebook or IQKonnect, I do minimize facebook actions, and am only member because my children made me to, and now here they made me member to as well, so I have now 2 facebook accounts, and it has no meaning at all for me, I do believe you what the adds concerns, when I just surfed the internet and looked for f.i. dresses, the first add which will pop-up when I open my facebook are adds wich dresses, so I know my big brother Mark is watching me:) Loes
Totally understand Loes, fb is a big part of the social media world here in the US, but it's not for everyone. Thanks for your comments :-)
