Which boss is important?

The question is which boss is more important? For those who work for someone else that boss are important during the hours that one is scheduled to work at their job. Building and running ones' own business is the boss (you) just as important? If so then you being the boss must set certain hour(s) for the employee (you) to focus on your job. When one works for the other boss, one must focus on the job at hand. There is not a distraction or personal phone calls, just get the work done. The boss at ones' job will be looking for one to do his or her function on the job. That is expected!

So what does the boss (you) expect from the employee (you) when it is your own business? Should be the same. First, the boss (you) must set a work time be it one hour, two hours, etc. That time should be close to the same time every day or whatever time interval the boss (you) chose. During the work hour (s) that is set one must focus just on that mission. Just like the other boss, one must expect productive work doing that time frame. There should not be any personal phone calls, browsing the web (unless it is work related). Ones' success on ones' own job is just as important as the other boss's job. Try setting a certain time, for your business and during that time you can't entertain anything that is not job-related.

Great job. Nicely put.

It is not an easy task!! Being the employee, let alone being the boss, of someone like me :) I still need a lot of discipline!! But anyway, I love it. And I'm sure you will too. It is giving the freedom Greg, to work at your own stance and do things you enjoy doing.

This is the battle that we all face and the big problem, for me, is whipping myself in gear as the employee of me. I have learned that I must break out of the mental block of doing the things that keep me in a job. My point is that I have to set bigger and doable plans and make myself accomplish each task. I'm a new work-in-progress and the goals I have now will carry me beyond the stars. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.

It was my pleasure reading it, and yes as you said, having set all the targets and plans, starting up the engine and go is the next step to take. We will always be a work-in-progress, so it is useless waiting till one job is done and final. It will never totally be, eh? Especially for someone as perfectionist as you might be, if I am getting you right!! You might always need to fix it to look better... and that is fine. But do start Greg

Thanks for your words of encouragement!

In our case the other boss is me too. We came to WA to find out how to promote the business we already had, and found the opportunities for so much more here. We have had to adjust to setting a time amount, rather than a certain time every day. Great outlook on a task not easily done.

Great and I would suspect that you will grow a lot more in learning as you travel thru WA

This is something that I have learned to do I have now become consumed with the idea of building my business that I take the time I need.

That is great but I feel like myself it took me a long time to accept my new boss -- ME. Great if you are already accepting orders from your new boss, which is you.

Love the blog and yes, you have pretty much said it in this reply. The new Boss/employee relationship is one I am still working on.
