Sometimes Starting Over is Necessary!

After four months of getting my site set up, laid out, configured, writing, posting, adding images, and sharing, I quit. Amazing, I know, but I quit. I was just about to break out with sales as my site was ready to monetize. Something strange happens when you do a ton of work and follow it up by quitting. Nothing.
I made one sale, and that was to a family member. Great. Whoopee. My excuse? I had to earn real money now. I went back to selling pest control door to door for the summer.
That was April of 2012. Fast forward to Black Friday, 2013. A friend had asked me about affiliate marketing and I started to tell him how much potential there is with his 1000+ YouTube followers to create residual income online. I stopped immediately, realized that I had quit right when it was the most difficult, just before success. Wow! A ton of bricks had fallen on my head! What had I done!!! How much time did I waste?!
The emails from WA inviting me back had been on my screen for a couple months. More than 15 articles for howtodriveamotorcycle.com (formerly beginnermotorcycles.net) were sitting on my computer, collecting virtual dust. Discgolfheaven.com had just started to explode on facebook when I quit. More dust. Frustrated? You bet!
The domain names lapsed. The sites went dark. I lost all the momentum I had built. Bummer.
After close to two years of ignoring the massive opportunity in front of me, I finally made a choice. I chose success. If you didn't guess already, I play disc golf, and I have 200+ discs. To pay for my WA premium membership I sold discs. I had to scramble as the special expired two days from the time I made the decision.
Now I am 22 days in and I have howtodriveamotorcycle.com up and monetized. Another 22 days and I will have discgolfheaven.com back up as well. I have a ton more ideas to pursue as well, including a site for my daughter to write. Talk about motivation!
Why did I choose success? Simple. I was going to make a choice anyway, why not help people, earn good money, and enjoy myself?
Is the premium membership worth it for an education and unlimited support? Ridiculously cheap. Try going to your local community college for one term for the cost of WA, let alone an entire year. Not likely. Unlimited websites and hosting? SUPER BONUS!
My sincere hope is that when you get overwhelmed (and you WILL), you don't do what I did and quit. Take a hiatus. Put it away for a week. Do something to get your motivation back. Go sit in the woods for an hour and listen to the silence. And yes, start over. It is necessary.
Running an online affiliate marketing business is a lot like working out. We all quit. It may be for the night or forever, the important part is when you choose to start again.

It is really easy to get distracted by other things in life. I had not been paying much attention to WA because of work and something clicked one day when I showed up an realized that I really didn't want to have to rely on the job to get my bills paid. So while it has been slow I finally started focusing on a site in November lol. It is slow going but even if my site doesn't work out I will have gotten and practice the skills I need to start on another until I succeed. Good luck to you and welcome back to WA =)

After realizing that there is nothing stopping my success but me, things changed. It takes a process of maturity to understand that it takes time and consistent effort over a period of months and years to get to where I want to be. I am going to be doing something in that time, why not create a residual passive income so I can buy my time back?
