Procrastination Battle Plan: Part 4

Hey everyone! Hope you're finding some helpful tips out of this series so far! Let's continue.

10) Break Down Large Projects

Huge tasks can be overwhelming sometimes and cause you to keep putting them off. One thing that will help is to break them down into smaller concrete pieces. Then you can tackle one smaller step at a time to reach the end of the big project. So, instead of thinking, "I have to complete this giant Task X!" You could think, "I have to email John and set up a time for us to get together and go over the plan for Task X." The first one may be hard to get yourself started, but the second one seems more doable.

11) Check Your Email Only Once an Hour

So, if you've acted on one of the privious tips and shut off notifications, closed email tabs, etc.,but are the type that you've just GOT to check those emails, limit yourself to checking just once an hour. Or if you can, once every few hours. Just don't become "interrupt-driven".

12) Keep Yourself Accountable

Setting goals and deadlines for yourself is excellent! But, to make it better, tell someone else what your goals are and it will keep you accountable to meet them. In my private FB group, I invite members every Monday to post their goals for the week and to be sure and keep them S.M.A.R.T. (I'll do a blog on this later.) During the week, generally on Thursday evening, I personally follow up with everyone who posted and see how they're doing on their goals and give them a nudge if necessary. You'd be surprised as the weeks progressed, more and more would be on target or even finished when I checked in with them! Then on Sunday, I have everyone post what they completed that week of their goals.

Well, that's it for this blog and I appreciate you taking the time to read this! Hopefully, you'll find some value in it. Also, if you'd like to connect with me further, you're invited to join my private FB group. You'll find the link bottom right of my WA profile page.

Until next time...Take Action!

Thanks Grant. I find no 10 helps me. I use Trello to create checklists breaking down my big tasks into smaller tasks and find it much easier to get started then on the first item as it is only small.

Smaller bites are always easier!

More great tips Grant.
