Big problems with WP 3.8.1

I installed WP 3.8.1 recently and it's causing big problems for me:

1. None of the themes I've tried will show menus in the page preview from the pages I've created

2. None of my pages appear in the pages list in Appearance/menus

3. In Page editing, the list of options to do with search engine robots (nofollow etc) doesn't appear under the text editing panel, as in the training video.

I've tried different browsers to no avail. Can i revert to the previous version of Wordpress?

How is this going, Graham. Do you still need help with it? If so, don't hesitate to send me a private message. ~ Jude

I got it sorted - it was all my fault for not following the training video correctly! I was omitting to click on Publish after making any changes! It just shows how you have to watch and re-watch until it all sinks in! Thanks for offering to help.

Whew. Really glad you have this resolved. Now when others post with issues, you can ask them - "did you remember to publish your changes" - lol. ~ Jude

Just reinstall it from the previous version of your wordpress editor. That will be ok.

My problem had nothing to do with the new version. I was wrong it was a Bar on my computer causing my problem. Got it taken care of. Hope you can solve yours!

I had that same problem. What you need to do is go in to appearance and menus and also customize the theme and reset your settings

Reverting to the previous version of WordPress is possible if you have a working backup of it. You may need to put in a hosting support ticket and ask them to revert your site to an earlier time.

But it does not solve the issue in the long run because you need to be up to date with the current version of WordPress for security and compatibility going forward. It's not mandatory but keeping your functionality up to date is recommended.

Check to see if your theme has a more up to date version. That might solve the issue.

Have you tested your site with the default WP theme. If it works in TwentyFourteen, or TwentyThirteen, then the issue is something else.

As well, this training from Kyle may help:

If you are still stuck, please post in Kyle's thread in the link above to get further help.

Thanks for your reply. I tried TwentyTwelve and the All in One SEO Pack does now appear below the text editing panel, but menus are still not appearing in page preview, nor is the list of created pages appearing in appearance/menus. Haven't tried Kyle's video yet - will let you know how I get on with it.

Hi Jude, I've made progress with my problems. The all in one SEO Pack options now appear in Page Edit, but I still can't get any menus/tabs to appear from my created pages. I've tried four themes without success - 2012, 2013, 2014 and Techism. As you say, looks like a problem for Kyle.
