This Old Dog Loved His Old Dog Poky
Many here at Wealthy Affiliate have asked me, "why is your WA handle gooddogpoky2?" It's not a secret. In fact, it's a rather interesting yet sad story. For years, Ruthie and I had a Shar Pei Mutt that we called Poky. Poky was the dumbest dog known to mankind. At times, when he was obnoxious, I would hit him with a rolled up newspaper or worse.
One day while I was disciplining Poky (or simply taking my frustrations out on him due to his stupidity) Ruthie said to me, "would you treat a child that way that obviously didn't have the ability or mentality to function the way we wanted them too?" She was right. The hostilities ceased against Poky and we quickly agreed that every time Poky did something wrong we would say, "good dog Poky." So for well over a decade of Poky's existence, when he acted totally stupid, we would just say Good Dog Poky.
A few years back, Poky died of natural causes. So now when I do something wrong or my wife disapproves of something I did she will emphatically state, Good Dog Poky in reference to my disturbing actions. So I am now gooddogpoky2.
So what! The real meat of this story is, (although Ruthie is learning that this is a bad thing to say to me on certain occasions) when I joined Wealthy Affiliate and I told Ruthie about it, she said to me, "Good Dog Poky." When I attempted to show here my website here at WA (which she has never seen to this day) she responded Good Dog Poky. When I complained that my children thought that I had gone MAD by getting involved with WA and my website she said, "oh don't be so touchy...good dog poky."
Well, you get my point! However, regardless of what others may think about WA or the passions that we are developing here at WA and our involvement with the WA Community we all have to understand that no everyone (not even my Ruthie) gets it. I get it! Do You? DAN

One of the spiritual teachers I've been listening to says - the more enlightened the more you accept that everyone gets to be who they want to be.
You can't change them, so why bother?
playfulheart: Good point. I just do what I am doing here at WA and let the rest slide. DAN
Hey Dan, good dogs are always in our memories. I taught our shitzus to wink. One time I was scolding Penny for something wrong that she did and she winked at me and I knew I wasn't getting through. She completly disarmed the situation.
Marty
Poky was a wonderful dog...a little stupid...but we loved him. Thank you for your response. DAN
Ah Clare, say it ain't so. The dumber the animal the more they crawl deep into your emotions. Thanks for the reply. DAN
Hi Dan ( you good old dog), Ya I get it too. He was a nice looking dog. They do become part of the family don't they?
Gary
Gary, they certainly do. When the crazy mutt died my entire family came over to the house of a little "dog funeral." It was very touching. DAN
Evan you got that right. Ruthie's coming along (slowly) but regardless of our support for being here at WA we all have to move on if we believe in it. I do. DAN
