Mastering Social Engagement

I am currently on level 4 of the training at Wealthy Affiliates, which is mastering social engagement. Through out this training I have taken each step as is comes and been able to proceed with the next step of the training without to much trouble, until level 4.

I have come to realize that maybe I am little shy when it comes to putting my face and my thoughts down for people to see.

Level 4 training has had me stumped for some time now. I will go to facebook, google+, or twitter and sit and look at a blank screen with an almost paralyzing fear of what others will say in response to my thoughts. It brought me to wonder if other people also have these same fears and how they deal with them.

I know that the only way to a better business to put my self out there and I want to.

For me this blog post is my one thing I am doing today that reaches out of my comfort zone, possibly tomorrow it will actually be a post to facebook or twitter.

I keep telling myself if I just do one thing a day outside of the zone I have myself in then one day my zone will be much broader and just as comfortable.

I would love how you deal with mastering a fear you have.

If ot helps, use a stock photo of someone. It doesn't have to be a picture of you. Also, try Pinterest. You will be pinning pictures from your website and nothing personal. If you use a picture of someone else you will be able to use social media as your 'other' self and still keep yourself as private as you want.
Hope this helps

Thanks Strap but I need to get over this fear. I say nothing wrong and have a lot of wisdom to give I'm just at a loss for words when it comes to social media. Each day I am working on it.
I really just wanted to put this fear out there for other people to know everyone has fears and struggles when trying to start a business.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I will suceed...

I can understand where your coming from I am quite a private person and the thought of me being so public felt daunting, why not concentrate on one network at a time start with G+ then put a link on WA and people can add you I do not always add those who add me if it is relevant to what I am doing then I will, each day I am out my comfort zone but I always think of the quote " feel the fear but do it anyway"... best of luck

Thanks Katie. Each and every comment on this post helps bulster the fact that I am not alone in my fears. I think you are right I have had a much better response on Google+ then any other network. I am going to take your advice and concetrate on that for awhile, thank you.

G+ and Twitter are my two favorites

Definitely like your approach, Tracy. Someone once said that the only thing to fear, is fear itself. For me, just doing the thing I'm afraid of is the way to conquer it.

The thought of singing in front of a large group of people used to make me sweat adrenaline bullets - but now, having done it many times, I've realised it's the very thing I should've been doing all along.

Like the Nike ad says, 'just do it.'

That's for sure Sean. I think it is important to also see the real life of the faces behind these profiles and mine is conquering the social media. Learning how to connect and know I have something to say.
