Cough Cough, Wheeze Wheeze

A smokey week behind us here in Nothern Nevada. The above photo might look like fog, but it's not. I took this from my back porch last night around 5pm. What you are seeing is the sun making a feeble appreance thru the smoke. This smoke from fires too many to mention. Fortunately, none are threatening to us here.

I said not threatening, but I referenced fire danger only. The smoke is coming from fires in Northern California, and a few in the Reno/Sparks area. In reality, our air quality has been poor on the better days. I think we had one Tuesday, but its hard to remember. Going out in the community for shopping, or what have you, you can hear people coughing and wheezing thru their masks which are useless against this much smoke.

Not only do we have to contend with the smoke, there is also the fine silty ash in the air that seems to permeate all but the very best filtration systems. Last night, I changed out the air filters in my house. They were covered with soot, silt and ash. I just changed them a few weeks ago, but thought fresh was in order. Glad I did.

Last night, the skies finally cleared around 8:30pm. Wifey and I took the opportunity to sit out back and enjoy a breath of fresh air as nightfall came on. Woke this morning to more of the same though. Guess we should be grateful for the brief break.

Back to work now. Thanks for dropping in my friends.

Greg

That has got to be rough Greg, I know how precious fresh air is, I was lucky in the Midwest and am lucky here in Texas. I wonder what the inside of your laptop or computer looks like, you should buy that compressed air and blow them out. Hope you're getting some work done on WA with all that misery.

Joe

The laptop is fine Joe, I hardly ever turn it on. Desktop is another story. I run with the side panel off in the winter for better cooling and the dust collects. I keep it clean tho by blowing it out weekly. Typical temps in summer are around 90 degrees F under high loading, winter with panel on, it tends to run in the low 80's.

Thanks for dropping in my friend, I appreciate it.

Greg,

When I think of Nevada, I think of miles and miles of fresh, open spaces, desert of course, but with lots of breeze and remarkable sceneries.

So sorry that you have to be caught up in the bad air quality from next door.
You are right though, make the most of the cracks of positive that may blow your way.

*** Glad the skies cleared for you ...

tip: when it gets smokey like that, just try a damp facecloth over nose for a bit to avoid inhaling any ash or such .... short of those pro respirators ...N95s i think they're called ...

keep well, stay strong, and all the best to you, Greg! ***

Thanks for the tip Keisha. Always good to see you my friend.

Greg

.... yes, care & concern for good friends here .... the entire earth is in a bit of a 'hiccup' shall we say ....

.... keep safe, stay strong .... appreciate YOU! .... :)

Be safe, Greg.

That reminds me how bad our air quality back in 2015 in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. We got named as the most polluted city in the world. The haze from grey turned to yellowish. So unhealthy and it reached hazardous levels. I was almost going crazy because I couldn't think straight since my brain received lack of oxygen. The greedy people created mass fires to clear out the forest for palm oil plantation. :(

Wow, yes that looks very similar.

It’s like that here, hazy, a bit hot. Oregon fires to the east and southeast of where I live. It’s gonna be that way for awhile. Like you guys, we got the smoke from Northern California also. My AC filtering it out but still can smell some smoke coming through. Cough, cough, indeed. Glad it got better for you and wifey.

Usually I am all for sharing, but this is ridiculous. Just another day. Glad your AC is doing it's job. Mine is as well for the most part. Better now that I've changed filters.
