5 Golden Rules for Affiliate Marketing

In my last 6 posts I have been driven to give you loads of FREE links to save you time, money & effort. This is going to be worth just as much & is based on my experiences over the last two years since I started my journey in Affiliate Marketing. When you eventually find the right platform to connect with and decide that you want to take this seriously & create a sustainable income for yourself, that's when you venture on your own into this world in which you now find yourself, the rules below are what NOBODY tells you…

Rule #1 Beware the “Contrepreneur”

Steer well clear of the person flashing sports cars, glamorous holiday destinations and even the fool that try’s to convince you that he/ she bought a plane with their Affiliate money, it's ALL rubbish! Anyone can hire a car or get photographed next to a plane, it’s not difficult. My personal favourite is the guy that is having lunch in a trendy restaurant while telling you that he can show you how to build a six figure income in a matter of weeks after signing up for his course and he did exactly the same after coming across a video of his “mentor”.

Most of these schemes have a low cost entry point but what they fail to disclose is that you only get a few training videos and you will have to keep investing more and more money while they convince you that the next step is where you will hit it big if you just invest more… GARBAGE! Don’t be fooled, PLEASE, people like this will destroy your dreams and ambitions the very second you discover just how unrealistic their claims are.

That's why I gravitated to Wealthy Affiliate, NO up sells, NO False claims of wealth, most important of all what resonated with me is that Kyle & Carson are hard-working family men just like the rest of us guys and gals. For my investment here I get a HUGE bank of training, a super helpful community and a testing ground for my material, it's value all the way for us WA members! Be patient, work consistency and play the long game, sustainability is the key here.

Rule #2 Master the Basics first

All you need to start out is a GOOD Affiliate program and FREE Social Media accounts of some shape or form to get started. At Wealth Affiliate you will get your training, support, hosting, domains & testing platforms all in one. As you study and practice in a safe environment you WILL get better & better with each new post and sharpen your skills as you go along. At a later stage you will add more to your portfolio as you become smarter and develop your niche.

Prepare yourself in the beginning to commit to learn something new with every investment in time initially, don’t look for the money right from the start, invest in your knowledge, and learn as much as possible in the beginning, learn how to market on all the free platforms first to hone your skills, when you get better you can learn about PAID TRAFFIC. Paid traffic is not a guarantee for business, it's investing in a wider audience to pitch at, make sure you know how to invest in PAID TRAFFIC to ensure the best return on your investment.

Rule #3 Be Consistent

Rome wasn’t built in a day as the saying goes and it's no different in this business, you have to plan your time wisely and be extra vigilant to go through your training. At this stage you are building the foundations of your business and to be sustainable one has to be consistent.

Be consistent with your training, content creation and stay on track with your daily planner. Its so easy to get distracted. Stay true to the time you allocate to your business each day and you will reap the rewards as you realize a solid foundation for your business. You want this to be sustainable, right? If you don’t stick to your plan you will hamper your success, it won't be the Affiliate program or tools that don’t work, it will be don’t to you. Be selfish with your time and always push in invest that extra bit each day and it will come back to you in results!

Rule #4 Don’t Over Invest

You will come across so many self-proclaimed Guru’s that will claim that they have the answer to accelerate your income, they will tell you that you have been doing it wrong and that investing in their program will make you rich in no time at all. This would lead back to my rule NR 1, there is no such thing as a shortcut to success, stick to the basics and do the basics like an expert first.

There are most definitely more tools that you can invest in at a later stage like a good Sales Funnel Builder & Auto Responder which will bring value to your business, however, these tools alone will NOT bring you overnight riches on their own. My whole business is devoted to ensuring that you DON’T spend money where you don’t need to, this comes from a place of experience where I have spent thousands of dollars foolishly in the beginning and I don’t want you to suffer the same pitfalls.

Rule #5 Brand outlasts all else

Building your own brand is SUPER IMPORTANT, products can and will come in and out of fashion, the only way that a product will have longevity is if it's’ a first and only of it's kind. Building a strong brand will have your customers know and follow you no matter what you are selling. Brand authority gives you flexibility to evolve your offering as the consumer demand changes.

In my business, Fireyourdayjob, I am ridiculously passionate about providing value, guidance and ethical recommendations for my customers. In the beginning it was hard, I didn’t see any revenue for a long time but now over the last few months it has started paying off, I am now in a place where people invest with me because they trust what my BRAND stands for. I want the same for you, that's why I give without expectation, the money follows naturally.
