Important decision

Hello Everyone! This is my very first blog on here . I am so new to all of this, and i have been getting a little overwhelmed. I wanted to thank everyone who wished me a hello and added me as a follow.
Knowing there are others out there struggling and yet still willing to help someone new is wonderful. I think one of the things am enjoying here is the connection and the friendliness of the other WA members.

So far i have been just clicking and reading what others have to say i spend a great deal of time reading and researching things so its nothing new to me.
Well this afternoon i made an important decision that i am going to start writing every single day for 3 hours, with breaks of course. This is a big commitment for me!
2 niches i had in mind one was a beauty blog/website or more specifically about skin care treatments and what they can or cannot do for you, I am struggling with that because i know from experience there is a lot of competition with this particular topic.
The second was a website about villages in Germany and Luxembourg i have a huge interest in history and also in genealogy and when researching my own family tree i was unable to find adequate information about certain villages within Germany and Luxembourg. So i thought maybe a site about German and Luxembourg villages might do well.
Any opinions or thoughts are welcome.
Thanks and good luck to everyone here at WA!

I'm not sure what you mean by paying for keywords. If you're referring to AdSense, I don't do that. You can just go ahead, research the most appropriate buyer keywords for your niche and build some articles and a blog around them. That's the beauty of organic traffic, it's free if you can learn how to attract it. Paid traffic like AdSense is a whole other animal, and you can lose your shirt if you're not experienced. It's probably a better idea to understand and develop some ability to get free organic traffic first before going to paid traffic. So don't worry about paying for KW. They're like air -- they're free. As far as focus is concerned, setting very small but achievable daily goals is the best way. Unless you can somehow clone yourself into 10 copies and send them off (a recurring fantasy for me, I'll admit) you have to choose your goals carefully. Don't worry, slow but steady progress over time adds up and your knowledge will also increase with continued effort. I've been at this for a couple of years now and I'm only now seeing the big picture. Good news is, being a member of WA will save you a whole lot of unnecessary effort. Just don't quit.

Mike, i see now keywords dont always cost see i was under the impression they weren't free! Okay this is making more sense to me now. Yes, of course i want to try to utilize whats free first. Yeah i am trying to steady myself and give achievable goals i have my first article topic and i am stumped on where to begin i know the opening line is the most important because thats what draws your audience to keep reading so a great opening sentence is important. ...at least that what i remember from creative writing in high school.

Thanks,

gina

Yes, you have that right. I have 2 blogs elsewhere and nooooo traffic, despite having almost 200 posts each. I finally figured out that the keywords I was targetting were not the kind people would search for with their credit card in their hands. So what I'm doing now is using the WA and Bum Marketing approaches of looking for very targeted but low competition KW that will attract people searching in that buying state of mind. What you have to do is write at least one article for each of those individual KW. A little bit of traffic from each one directed to your site adds up over time. Trying to compete for a highly competitive KW that gets lots of traffic that may or may not want to go to your site, much less buy anything, is a HUGE amount of work. I'm also here b/c I can try things out with free domains and hosting and see what flies. If it gets some traction, I can always duplicate it on my own domain and hosting, and even link back to it. I think the biggest challenge is to stay very tightly focused and not get distracted.

Mike, I guess i really will have to buckle down and focus i so wish focus was a strong point for me but its not. I can spend hours reading and thinking but i get distracted easily so knowing this i need to fix it somehow. Right now i am thinking about the niche to go with i think the two i mentioned will be my starters. I have even come to the point where i have some titles and a general outline of what the site should contain as far as being useful to the public. . Then there is the 30 articles in 30 days this is what i have been working on this afternoon talking to friends on F/B and asking what topics interest them so i have an idea of which way to go with the articles .There is so much to learn and so i will take my time and listen to the awesome advice you have given me as well as the pointers from other experienced members here. Let me ask you have you had to put out a lot of money for your keywords and the ones you have paid for have they shown to be worth their cost? I think that is what i am dreading not being able to compete or not selecting the proper keywords. Well for now i will just forge ahead with the general act of writing ..and let that be a worry later.

Thanks have a great day!

Gina

Hi G!
Look, if there's a lot of competition in your desired niche, it's actually a good thing b/c it shows that there's lots of demand for it. If there wasn't, your competitors would be somewhere else. Look for keywords that have low volume of searches but are competitive AND are indicative of a buying stance. If you set up a blog that provides good information and you are an authority in Google's eyes (hint: think about Google Autorship markup), then your customers will see what you have to offer as simply one more (probably better) choice as to where they can spend their money. Try to give them some unique combination of benefits that they can't get from your competitors.

Thanks for the pointers Mike. I have been wondering what i am going to run into when it comes to actually purchasing the keywords from what i see they can be expensive. Also,
I am wondering if its better to Blog or to have a actual website? I read somewhere not sure where that blogs are harder to make money from?.

I think what you mean by buying stance would be words that have to do with a customer making a purchase? correct me if i am wrong please.

Thank you, Gina

So thanks to Hudson i followed the link to 30 articles in 30 days! Wow i hope i am ready to do this! I guess i will find out.

Hi!
I agree with what Hudson recommends. That course will give you advices on how to start, as well as motivation.
And the reward you get at the end of it is quite amazing!

What clicked with me when I saw wiliah14's comment is - if you'd do such website, you can make a part of contain tourist attractions or provide reasons to someone who might want to visit them.
This might give you ideas for totally different niche, in the same branch, or perhaps a totally different website, but it could drive a lot more visitors who want to travel in that area!

Yes, many avenues to follow within tourism. I was thinking on providing historical information and photos for those doing genealogy research on certain villages.. Plus cover some things about culture in Germany/Lux. I learned so much when doing my family tree.

I am excited now because i feel like i could really do something with this.

Thank you!

You welcome!
I'm glad you're able to blend your passion with online marketing. That's actually the key. :)

Hudson.

Thanks your such a kind person ...i will follow the link and let you know how i progress!

Have a wonderful day!

PLEASE!! do a website about Germany and Luxembourg. My dream is to visit England and all the surrounding countries, I will be your biggest fan! And the skin care, well maybe you could find something with all natural ingredients... I feel the biggest problem and why that niche may be so competitive is because there are too many theives out there trying to promise women all these anti-aging products that cost an arm and a leg, but when it comes to natural products, people tend to trust it more...i know i do..were you looking to sell these products?

Hello Willah, So glad you like the idea of the Germany/lux villages! I share in your dream of travel to Europe I think i will have my work cut out for me writing on this !.
I am glad you mentioned the natural products with beauty care since i actually found a company that makes products completely derived from natural ingredients. I just emailed them today and asked if they have an affiliation program in place the answer was no but, they would consider it and get back to me. There is i agree alot of scammy make up lines that falsely promise results. I think a lot of them operate and do well because they are able to hire a famous person to advertise their products
. I am always wary of those.
Oh and no not looking to sell anything there's is no one product line that i would want to endorse or market.

Thanks for the input!

Gina

maybe in the future, you could make your own line, simple package and sell and make 100% of the profits instead of a commission. There are tons of recipes online to making your own natural skin products, shampoos and more, i made a few of these at home with wonderful results, the hard part is preserving the ingredients it can get pretty complicated i presume, but my girlfriend does body scrubs and stuff, I'll see what her website is and get back to you...

Hi - from what I can see it is now called the 30 day success club and is a premium course. I will make enquiries and see if there is an alternative now for non premium members,
Regards
Hudson

Hello, Okay thank you! it sounds like i could benefit from this. I do intend to upgrade as soon as possible $$$ are just tight right now with being out of work.

Hi - when I started out I had never written an article so I took the 30 articles in 30 days course and really found that helpfull. From there I went forward. The course helped me to put my thoughts into order so that I could write articles very easily, and this is usefull - you have an idea - you write. I always keep a folder of ideas and thoughts to go back to when i get stuck,
Hope this helps
Regards
Hudson

That is a great idea creating a folder and keeping track. I just write things down on pieces of scrap paper there is something to be gained by organization.
Is this a course that is available to any member or must you be a premium member?

Great step forward because the key here is to actually do something with all the information you have gained. Like the idea of writing three hours per day. I suggest you find your own best time of the day to do this. I am one of these people that thinks best at the beginning of the day and that's when I do all my writing. It also gives me a great feeling that I have achieved something when i have done it.
Good luck and keep focussed,
Regards
Hudson

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, i do enjoy creating/writing my head is so full of ideas. finding my best time to write will be tricky because ideas come to me at odd moments, If you know what i mean. How is your progress here? What did you focus on when you started out?
