Just my personal observations, but.
Hi all, as many of you will be aware, I have only been a member of this platform for a few days.
As far as affiliate marketing goes, I'm something of a novice - not a complete novice it must be said - and am here for the long-haul to find the 'secret' to this money-making scheme called Affiliate Marketing.
Over the past few days, I have studied much of the material available on this site. I have completed level 1 of the programme and am now on level 2. I keep returning to level 1 from time to time to ensure that I fully understand how everything fits together regarding Affiliate Marketing. I have put together a 'test' website, Its tiring - sometimes confusing - work but I KNOW I will get through it and I KNOW I will - if there's any justice in this world - realise at least some of my dreams.
Talking of dreams, I can't help but feel that so many of the people who join this platform may be doing so with false hopes! That is not to say that they are wrong, merely coming on here with the wrong idea of what is in front of them. That said, I don't wish to sound condescending. Everyone has to start somewhere and as I've already said, I too am but a short way along this strange (to me at least) and confusing path!
When I think back to my very first steps along the Affiliate Marketing road - many years ago! - I can see how I too came to the table with similar misconceptions about how Affiliate marketing works. I too thought you just plucked a Website name out of the Ether, put a few bits of content on the pages, filled any available space with affiliate links and trotted off to the local car showroom, there to select your next new car whilst the internet did its thing and made you a millionaire overnight! Ah, for the confidence and naivety of youth! :-)
Coming onto this platform has - for me at least - been an eye-opener! Yes, I realised that there is more to affiliate marketing than I first thought all those years ago, but I never realised just how much there is to learn if you are going to be successful.
Luckily, the amount of information available on this site - both from the site's owners and just as importantly from the numerous helpful fellow site members - makes it easier (certainly not easy!) to avoid most of the pitfalls that await the complete novice.
So I'd just like to finish this short observational piece, by saying to anyone who has joined this platform recently; Welcome! The road IS a long one and it IS so often a hard one! BUT, if you take your time, read through the site's content, watch the videos and take on board the information you are being given, then one day you WILL succeed. Added to that, don't be afraid to ask questions - lots of them - the good people on this site will, I feel sure, be only too pleased to help you if they can.

Just be careful about Self Promotion on WA though, as the only allowed places for your websites URL, is on your Profile under the Follow Me on section, the SiteComments feature, when you want comments on your websites posts, and the SiteFeedback, when you want constructive feedback over design and content etc.
