There has been quite a bit of discuss over the last few days about the security around the personal information held by Tik Tok.

Just to update you.

it has just been announced on the news that Tik Tok are going to move their headquarters to another country. London apparently one of the top options.

This will hopefully give confidence to those of you who are thinking of opening an account with them.

I'm sure there are many of you just desperate to get a video of yourself doing that renegade dance uploaded.

I can’t see my self sighing up anytime soon

I have it on my phone but don't have an account.

Tiktok has lost its appeal to millions of people.

2

Still millions using it none the less.

I have no confidence in it whatsoever Geoffrey after recent revelations about the data.
I was going to try it but not any longer. I am surprised their is a possibility of it coming to the UK after the recent revelations about their content targeting young girls with videos encouraging anorexia.
I also want to know they are no longer misappropriating personal data before I use it.

2

I suppose they are trying!

2

I doubt it. They can remove anything they want and have apparently removed innocuous items yet they deliberately target people with disgusting videos. Apparently if you have shown even mild interest in anything weight loss these videos appear.
A user of the platform was telling of her experience and of others experience on the national news this evening.
They all have a duty, every big platform, to safeguard the young and older from disgusting practices. Facebook merely paid lip service to cleaning their platform. They allowed anything as long as they were paying.

1

Yea I suppose they will only act when forced to.

2

It has already been banned in India and South Korea. China is very thorough/sneaky in how they gather information, sadly.

1

Yea, that's why they're moving.

2

Just moving to another country may not be enough. China's rules of ownership are quite complicated, layered, and hidden.

1

True but they won't be excepted here without a thorough investigation the government says

2

Where it is is less important than who owns it!

Derek

Yea but they have to give their customers confidence and they have said that they never would give China any information. I think US politics are stirring where they don't need to.
