How Much Time Am I Wasting?

Good evening everyone! I have been dealing with a frustrating issue in regards to publishing articles onto my website. I am sure that many of you can also relate to this, which makes me feel a little bit better about my frustration. After all, frustration gives us room for growth and for greater learning, right? :-)

Oftentimes, with my schedule such as it is, I am finding that it can take me a decent amount of time to fully complete a blog and get it published. Even using the AI tool, to create a template for me to simply edit, I may end up not publishing a post for a week or two. It is frustrating as heck.

I always have full intention of taking no more than 3-4 days to make edits to the AI content, upload an image, add any affiliate links to the article, and finally publish it. But then "life happens" (as we all deal with, of course). Work, kids activities, chores around the house, errands, family time, etc. Now I get it.....the first word that probably jumps out?....PRIORITIES. How bad do I want it? What am I willing and able to sacrifice, to make this happen quicker?

It seems to take the wind out of my WA sails, in terms of gaining and keeping momentum in becoming financially independent. I'm on a timeline, right? There are things that I want to accomplish this year yet, and being able to earn a substantial income plays a huuuuge role in that. You guys feel me on that, I know it.

I understand that my situation is not unique or special; that is why I am sharing this. Just doing some subtle venting, I suppose, in hopes that I can get on track to be able to push quality content out, often and quickly. That should be my goal. Your thoughts?

At the end of the day Paul, there is no answer to your dilemma here!!!

We are all different and have very different responsibilities in our lives....

Just do as much as you can with the time you have available....

It can be a quick ten minutes here and a quick ten minutes there.....

If you are able to shut yourself off from what is going on around you totally in life for at least 10-15 mins a day (maybe a couple of times)...

Then just FOCUS on ONE thing only, and do that!!

Don't say I must complete a 300 word section of an article...

If you come up short, chances are you feel you didn't do enough and motivation levels will be low when you have the next ten minute window.....

Just think.... I have ten minutes NOW to get as much as I can possibly do NOW... with whatever subject/topic/keyword research I want to do......

And just DO IT!!!

Ahh, the challenges of balancing work/life with website building and getting frustrated when it feels like little progress has been made – I think everyone has been there!

The way I look at it is that, as Kyle always says, there’s something like 5 billion people online but the trouble is when anyone starts a new site, at the beginning, no-one online knows about the new site.

Our task is therefore to try to find and connect with just a small percentage of the online 5 billion - specifically people who share an interest in whatever our websites are about.

Those connections can clearly be made in different ways. The most obvious way is finding relevant keywords/crafting articles that match up with those keywords search intent etc, but also you can try engaging in relevant forums and social media platforms and other things. All of these activities are aimed at building and collecting an audience.

What I’ve found helpful for me is to focus on what I suppose you might call the 'audience engagement' metric above all other measures. As sites are built out, if even one person engages with your posts, that's a success and should be celebrated. That’s one person who previously didn’t know your site existed. And if you can engage one person, you can engage more and more and that’s so important as ultimately an engaged audience is what will lead to affiliate sales.

I personally think this is where many people go wrong. They fall into the trap of fixating on making their first affiliate sale as the ultimate indicator of success. When that doesn't happen quickly, people get fed up and give up - even though they’ve probably been making decent progress.

My suggestion is therefore to set small, manageable 'success goals' – but crucially include goals that aren’t necessarily ‘money’ goals, i.e. include ones that track ‘audience engagement’. For example, aim to gather 10 comments from unique visitors or maybe respond to 5 questions on forums relevant to your niche – things like that. These aren't just tasks – they’re milestones marking off your progress and they can be ticked off quicker and more regularly than money goals ever can.

**Cliché warning!** This journey is a marathon, not a sprint, we all know that, but what really helps me is to remember that audience building/engagement is the core of everything and therefore every audience interaction, no matter how small, is a sign of moving in the right direction.

Hope some of the above is helpful

Best wishes

Paul, I feel ya. Same here. I feel this way, too. The problem is that Google has changed the search engine results page. I, too, face these issues with posting. The idea is not to post so many so quickly. Qaulity is better than quantity. I feel that taking the time to write a post is worth my time more than publishing auto content that pushes out 1k blog posts with AI content. Google has eliminated those in its March Core update of this year. So take your time with it. It takes a long time to grow a sustainable business.

I wish I were back home in Minneapolis. I would have loved to meet you in person. My family still lives there. I know it doesn't help.

I feel like I wasted a lot of my time with social media. I'm not gaining anything there, and I'm not gaining anything on my articles either because they're not being ranked. Google took it all away with its Core updates and changed everything. Now, we need to focus on writing shorter posts.

Think about writing maybe just 800 words or less. If you can do that, put a couple of photos and look for questions. Write the questions and write three paragraphs or even a couple to answer one question and then move on to the next.

Kyle mentioned that. Google rewards short answers from forum content. I've always written 2500k or more posts, and now they are not being seen anymore. This is where I feel like Im wasting my time writing. No one wants to read long content anymore. That's where I am now.
