I'm finding it hard to maintain focus.

I've been following and acting on areas of the affiliate bootcamp training and my mind is working overtime. I started by setting up a free site to get used to wordpress and the working of SEO, etc. I'm not to bothered if this free site doesn't get me out there but I took the plunge and bought a unique .com domain and have started to build content, imagery, etc for this one. The new domain I've invested in is not a huge area of knowledge for me but I wanted to make this a learning experience as well as a profitable one (hopefully) Trouble is, I've thought of another 4 or 5 ideas for new sites since then! I don't know whether it's that I'm getting over-excited or just finding it hard to maintain my focus! (by the title of my blog, I fear it's the latter)

I read other blogs, constantly look at live chat comments, read the news, talk to people about my subject matter, etc but I'm feeling pressured by it all.

I would dearly love some constructive advice from you friendly WA's out there. Mainly on how to maintain my focus and really work on one idea. Good and honest if you will... Thanks

I am totally lost ,to be honest i don't know where i am on this build .
is it possible for some one to log into my system, and see if i am on track with this build .
if i have missed something i am losing heart .

Write all your ideas down for future reference and keep them safe. Stick with what you're doing for the time being :)

Thanks for the advice. People here on WA are very quick to help. It's greatly appreciated. Going to fully focus on my initial idea and run with it.

This is very normal if your beginning you will have lots of ideas at first when you get tired of idea and want to get going then you will stop the ideas

Ideas are great but they are just ideas, I see people on here trying to create 3 websites at once and write articles for them all

I have one site and it takes up every spare moment I have

The time will come when you realize that one website dodne well is the only real way to go

Do one thing but do it well is my philosophy

Barry

Thank you Barry. It's certainly food for thought.

I had the same issue! I got super excited with all of the opportunities and I felt like my brain was on overdrive.

I decided to pick one niche to run with and complete all of the courses with. But I still keep a list going for all of my other ideas. I think what helped me is realizing that there is plenty of time to get to everything. However, if there is a niche that is booming right now and is time sensitive, then you might want to get to that one sooner.

I also ended up finding all these amazing webinars outside of wealthy affiliate and I was spending hours every night learning new things. The problem with that was I should have been spending all of those hours creating content for my website and making it better.

Many of those webinars had good information but it was too much of a time sink, so I ended up purchasing a screen recording software. Now I just record the webinars in the background, so I can watch them later when I actually have time or when they are more pertinent to the part of my business that I am working on at the moment.

What helps me the most is scheduling time to work on my blog. Not to learn about working on my blog, but to actually write content, or do things like setting up an email service. Then I allocate a separate number of hours for learning new things.

Another thing that helps me is setting a combination of specific and general goals. My generalized goal might be something I don't know a whole lot about (like list building, webinars), but then I can break it down into those specific goals over time. I limit myself to one general goal at a time and it's always secondary to things like writing new content every 2-3 days. So right now, I am working on list building and I won't even think about learning to do webinars until I feel like I have my website in a pretty good state to grow my email lists.

Thanks for the advice. I need to start scheduling what I need to do instead of becoming distracted. Gonna definitely go back to basics with the training modules though. Thanks for taking the time to assist. Much appreciated

Hi Gav,

The question is do you enjoy your niche ? or are you are in it just for the money ? I would focus on one niche and probably one that you have knowledge with and have great interest in. Being interested in your niche will help with the focus.

Ignore the monetary benefits for now. Lots of people do things for money and focus on that and most fail from what I've seen.

It maybe discouraging reading other peoples work and progress which seems to me, is distracting you. Again, for the time being, refrain from reading others work or have the chat window open unless you need help.

If need be, run through the courses again and make sure you go through all the tasks to make sure you have not missed out anything or misinterpreted stuff.

To add, don't overwork yourself, you will crash out and start dreading this. Like with gym training, you need good rest to recover and get stronger (body and mind). Focusing is certainly much better with a rested mind :)

I hope this helps,

Regards,

John,

Thanks for the advice. I do have an interest in my niche but I'm not overly knowledgeable about it. I've researched and researched over the last 4 weeks and have got strong content. I think you're right about not looking too much at other people's work and needing to focus on my own more. I think I forget that I'm a complete novice at this and it's still a work in progress. Thanks so much for the advice and taking the time to assist. It's greatly appreciated. Will certainly take your advice on board and perhaps go over some of the training modules again. Cheers
