Tea For Weight Loss and Bloating

Drinking tea has been known to help with several health benefits.

Tea is made by simply pouring hot water on the tea bags or tea leaves and allowing them to sit (steep) for awhile, the longer they steep the stronger the tea is.

Several studies have shown that certain teas can promote weight loss, help with bloating and aid in losing belly fat.

Listed below are some of the best teas for losing belly fat and for weight loss.

Herbal Tea

Filled with fruits, herbs, and spices in hot water, herbal tea is different from regular tea.

Because normally they don't have caffeine and the leaves that they are made from is not the Camellia Sinensis.

Some of the most common herbal teas are ginger tea, hibiscus tea, rosehip tea, and rooibos tea.

Even though the ingredients of herbal teas vary, studies have shown that they can help with weight and fat loss.

Fat rats have been given herbal tea and found to have lost weight and it also helped to stable hormone levels.

The rooibos tea has been shown to be exceptionally effective when it comes to burning fat and weight loss. It has shown to increase fat metabolism and block fat cells.

Conclusion:

Studies have shown that herbal tea does help with weight loss and fat burning although more studies need to be done

Black Tea

Black tea undergoes what is called "oxidation".

Oxidation is defined as a chemical reaction when tea leaves are exposed to the air.

It has a browning effect that makes the dark color of the tea.

Black teas include but are not limited to English Breakfast tea and Earl Grey tea.

Many studies have been done and black tea has shown to promote weight loss.

A study was done that has shown if you drink at least 3 cups of black tea daily for 3 months that it will lessen your waist circumference and increase your weight loss.

A study done on over 4000 adults within a 14 - year time frame shows that people.

With a high intake of flavone from a black tea had a much lower BMI (body mass index) than people with a low flavone intake.

Conclusion:

This black tea shows a reduction in BMI, weight loss and your waist circumference because the tea is so high in flavones.

White Tea

White tea has a different flavor from most teas.

It is lightly processed and harvested when the plant is still young.

So, the taste is light and subtle, sweet, and delicate.

This tea has actually been shown to kill cancer cells and to improve your oral health.

More research is needed but it is also shown to help with weight loss.

Green tea and white tea have around the same amount of catechins which helps with weight loss and burning body fat.

It has also been studied and shown that the extract from white tea helps break down fat cells and prevents new ones from forming.

Remember though, this is a test - tube study only so it is not clear how it might apply to humans.

Conclusion:

Although the test - tube study showed that the white tea promotes in fat cell breakdown and in fat loss.

Not much is known about the effect in humans and much more research needs to be done.

Oolong Tea

If you have not heard of this tea, it is a Chinese tea, partially oxidized which will put it between the black tea and the green tea in color.

Also, it has a fruity aroma and a really unique kind of flavor.

Studies show that this tea can help promote weight loss because it helps fat burning and speeds up your metabolism.

In a study of over 100 overweight people that drank this tea every single day for 6 weeks, it is believed to have been the reason for the weight loss they had.

In a different study, some men were given water and some men were given oolong tea for 3 days.

The oolong tea burned at least 281 more calories every day.

Of course, more studies need to be done on this, but the findings so far show that it does indeed show a potential for weight loss.

Conclusion:

Oolong tea has shown to enhance weight loss due to increasing metabolism and fat burning.

Puerh Tea

This tea is another type of Chinese tea but this one is fermented. Most consider this an after - dinner tea.

Studies done on animals have shown that this tea helps to lower blood triglycerides and blood sugar.

Studies in both humans and animals show that this tea might help to promote weight loss.

A study of 70 men, given a placebo or a capsule of puerh tea extract for 3 months.

It was shown that the men who took the tea extract capsule lost a little over 2 pounds more than the men given the placebo.

This puerh tea seems to have an anti - obesity effect and helps to stop weight gain.

Conclusion:

These studies were done with the tea extract only so, more studies need to be done to make sure that actually drinking the tea has the same effect.

Green Tea

This tea is the most effective when it comes to burning fat and losing weight.

It also seems to have the most health benefits of any tea.

The studies prove that there is a lot of evidence that links this tea to loss in body fat and weight.

A study was done with 60 overweight people following a regular diet for 12 weeks.

Some did the regular diet with green tea added and some did the regular diet with placebo added.

Those who added the green tea lost over 7 pounds more than those who added the placebo.

A second study showed that people who had green tea extract for a total of 12 weeks had a significant weight loss and body fat reduction.

It is believed that it is because the green tea extract is remarkable high in catechins which is an antioxidant that might boost your metabolism.

There is also a powdered green tea that is extremely concentrated called Matcha.

It has been shown to have the same effect as regular green tea.

Conclusion:

This tea is high in catechins, promotes weight loss and aids in fat burning.

Tea is normally consumed for its soothing effect, but these different teas show that there are many health benefits to drinking this tea.

So, stop drinking the high sugar, high calorie drinks like juices, Kool-Aid and sodas and switch to one of these teas to promote a more healthier life and reduce belly fat!

Not a fan of tea but I have been drinking berry and chamomile tea lately
Awesome benefits

I'm not a tea drinker, Garry! I have never liked the taste, but this post makes a very compelling argument that maybe I should start, my friend!

Jeff

Very informative post! It just reinforced my own investigations of green tea. Thanks.
