Sunday smiles and simple solutions
Good morning, lovely WAers
Happy Sunday!
This is just a short, hopefully inspirational post to keep you motivated this weekend. Sundays are often a time for reflection and rest, although for some, they can be the busiest day of the week as we try to cram everything we haven't done so far, into one day! Feel familiar?
Well, here are a few tips to help boost your mood today.
1. Reflect on what you have already achieved
Most of the time, we are not kind to ourselves, and we allow that little, negative voice in our heads to get the better of us. But today, instead of looking at all the things on your 'to-do' list with despair, make a list of all the things you have accomplished this week and be proud. This small shift in your focus will help you realise that you are making progress, even if it appears slow at first. Starting an online business is a long-term project - so never forget that, and be prepared for slower periods to build the foundations.
2. Organise your tasks for today, but factor in some 'You-time'
You can do this every day, not just on Sundays! Making time for yourself is incredibly important in allowing you to manage your stress levels, maintain good mental health, and keep you fit and healthy. This is especially important if you are a carer for others or have other people who depend on you!! In these situations, it's easy to put yourself to the bottom of the list, behind everyone else, but this is a mistake.
If you don't look after yourself, who will be there to look after your dependants when you fall ill or struggle to cope? As someone who has children with special needs, I know this only too well. Looking after yourself and making time for YOU will allow you to keep showing up for the people in your life. So take some time, and put yourself at the top of the list sometimes. And if you can't just do it for you (which you should), think of it as an essential part of your care for them!

3. Be realistic about what you can achieve in the time you have available
I'm writing this for me to take notice of here, as I am a person who constantly believes there to be 48 hours in a day instead of 24!! LOL. So I'm going to take my own advice here, too.
Time is precious, but in my experience, everything takes much longer than planned to achieve. I believe this to be true about most things, and there is plenty of evidence in the media of this. I don't think this is necessarily a huge problem, because we often are very ambitious about what we want to achieve. It only becomes a problem if we continually have 20+ things on our 'to-do' list but only ever achieve 5 of them. Then, we start to believe we are failing in some way, when in reality, we are just underestimating the time it will take. So if you regularly achieve 5 things a day, limit your 'to-do' list to 5 things. There will be time to complete other things in the future. And you will feel much better at the end of the day, having completed your list, than having to keep moving things to tomorrow.
It's a small shift, but it can make a huge difference in how you feel about your achievements. So if your list of things to do today looks like this:
- Set up a YouTube channel
- Create a new Pinterest account
- Write 3 new articles
- Research 20 new Jaaxy keywords
- Walk the dog
- Visit Aunt Nellie/Florence/Mabel
- Plant seasonal bulbs
- Do the washing
- Finish my book
- Etc, etc, etc...
1 - you're not alone! And 2 - maybe, try to pare this down a little to something more realistic. Decide what you definitely need to do and check out the Eisenhower urgent/important matrix (thanks for your post Rachele) to see what you can delegate, postpone or delete.
And that's it! Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone. You are doing well, AND you are succeeding. Just remember that and be kind to yourself today.
Let me know in the comments what you are doing for yourself today.
All the best.
Gail

Really like the link to the Eisenhower Matrix. Have not seen that before. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jason. Great to hear from you. I'm glad you like the matrix - it's an excellent tool. I thought I'd written a post about it too but I think it was on my own website, so I used the great one from Rachele. It can really help to sort your head out at the start of the week/day.
All the best. Jason. Gail
Thanks for your comments here, MAC. Don't beat yourself up - we can all only do what we can, and I'm sure you are doing your best. Wishing you a really great Sunday - make sure you are doing number 2.

Thanks Gail. I also could do with 48 hours in a day. I am just looking at Rachele's Eisenhower Matrix.
've looked at various time management techniques and I like the Kaizen method of continuous improvement with a bit of the Eisenhower Method mixed in. But there aren't really 'degrees of importance' with many of my projects. It's just me who decides what I want to work on... And every so often I remind myself that all my online work matters mainly to me - and I am doing it because I enjoy it - so I shouldn't stress about it.

I think that's the key - don't stress about it. Things have a habit of working out for the best anyway. Trust the process.
Yes, that's what I believe more and more.
