I do not see to have any trouble I do organize and clear out on a regular basis

The free gmail does have a limit of 15 GB

Yes, for free space it does. It usually mentions how much space you are using of the 15 GB allotted at the bottom of the page: Looks like this
1.67 GB (11%) of 15 GB used

Hi - it does, 15GB for the free version, and whatever you want if you pay for it.

If you click on "Inbox" it should take you back to the top. Or perhaps try the Refresh (circle with an arrow) - and ensure you don't have anything in the search box, that may be filtering your mailbox.
