Work Hard but don't forget to Play Hard Too!

"Sometimes we get so caught up making a living that we forget to make a life!".

What I mean by this is the thought of creating financial freedom is so strong and a common goal that everyone wants and people will work themselves into exhaustion to get there. C'mon who really enjoys paying their bills and budgeting each month. If I came up to you right now and gave you a cheque for a million dollars with no catch than you would take it right? because everyone wants financial freedom that badly. In fact I was reading an article the other day about factors that contribute to high stress levels and guess what was up there with moving house and divorce... yep you guessed it money.

Now in my opinion yes we all do this for the common financial freedom goal but lets not forget why we started doing what we do. we all have individual desires aswell. For me for example i wish to move to Wales and live in the mountains with my girlfriend and dog. For you it could be to spend more time with your family, More free time to pursue hobbies and interests etc. and let's face it if you are only focusing on producing an income you are going to burn out very quickly because you are not doing all the other fun things you decided to do. The mind needs a variety of stimulation to work effectiveley and just trying to make an income is going to bore your mind to death.

I decided to write this blog to remind people that even though we are all working towards that financial freedom goal, to enjoy the journey and not just focus on the end result. That is true happiness. If you don't enjoy the journey you will not like the destination ;) so take 10 minutes out to decide if you are really doing what you want in terms of non business related activities. Maybe you have been thinking of learning karate or starting a stamp collection. Whatever it is make sure you devote time to this aswell. These activities will take the work stress off and will fuel your happiness which in turn as we all know will lead to success :)

so remember this. Write it down and have it on your desk or somewhere you can see it frequently...

Martyn

Love your post very much Martyn, so much truth to it. I love doing meditation and I love writing (besides adding content to my websites lol) and I love reading. I have to go away sometimes from all this. And besides, this "hard work" term isn't much to my liking anyway. I will think more about it and will write about my gathered thoughts in one of my later posts.
Thanks for sharing :)

Hi Sylvia,

Thankyou for your kind words. I look forward to your post :) Meditation is great. When I first got started in this industry I admit I was just so desperate because of my financial situation at the time that I literally dropped my social life and locked myself in a room for 10 hours a day. One day though I just couldn't focus. I basically just burnt out and this moment made me remember why I started this. To embrace life. not sit in a room trying to make money all day. I still treat it like a business but ever since that time I just give myself time away throughout the day to meditate or read or exercise. just something that keeps me present and positive. I did this for 30 days straight and have never stopped since because the outcome results have been so powerful. That's what I really like you are always learning

Funny, I was thinking about this today. But on the idea that we're spending so much time sitting at the computer, we might not take the time to go outside and exercise - for the fun of it.

That's it if your mind doesn't have fun experiences it just burns out. even if it's only a 10 minute walk. Much better than sitting at a computer all day lol
