Monetizing your site - What to look for

One of the great tools here at WA is the ability to ask and give feedback on each others sites. In my quest to offer constructive tips, I created my last blog to address common issues I regularly see. These are regurgitated tips that Kyle addresses in the training, I've just assembled them in a list so it's all in one place. Here's a link:

The next step after cleaning up loose ends is to figure out how you're doing. This means, how are you converting leads to "clients" and monetizing your website. If you're not monetizing your website then I think it's important to take a hard look at what you're doing, and if necessary, make changes no matter how big they are.

For example, if your website theme does not inherently follow the guidelines Kyle provided (and outlined in the post above) and you're not willing to explore the ways to get into he code and make those adjustments yourself, then change the theme altogether.

How much time are you spending?

If you spend a lot of time on your site without the results you want, consider what you might be missing. I've read about members who've been on WA for months, putting in countless hours writing blogs, and even offering tips to others, etc.. but when questioned about their conversion rates they say they don't have any! If that's you, then seriously consider going back to review the fundamentals.

Are you measuring your results?

Have you installed Google Analytics? Do you know what your top visited pages are? Have you adjusted the content on high bounce rate pages to hold readers better? What are you doing, exactly?

If you're just building content and not looking at your results, then you might be running in circles. Try to always think of yourself as a visitor on your own site, and be honest with yourself. Would YOU buy from YOU? Would you be converted by your own blog post?

What can you do differently?

It's not always easy to make tough decisions. What helps is to think about how you want to apply your time and effort. Are you happy with your results so far? If you keep heading in the same direction, then are you hoping and praying for people to notice you online or do you actually have a system in place to adjust your approach until it works?

Refer to your prior experience

I used to day trade futures. Let me tell you, THAT was a tough gig... if you ever want to magnify your worst emotions and measure your ability to deal with those emotions in real-time with money behind each action, then try day trading for a day lol. What it taught me was first to breath, focus, and be very critical of my own decisions to find the truth in a given situation.

Be honest about the feedback you've received so far

One of the downsides of WA's feedback system is that there's a reward for giving it, so you're not always getting an unbiased view. The only reason I consider this a downside is if you're the type of person to get caught up in the positive, very general, non-specific feedback that someone might give just to rack up a few points for themselves. Don't be one of these confused people. Be honest with yourself. Consider who's offering the feedback, what are their results?

Next steps...

Always be thinking. Always be analyzing and reevaluating. The greatest masters in history did not settle, they were always improving, searching, starting over, testing and pushing themselves to new, higher ground. Just when everything starts working, be ready to make changes. There is no destination.

I hope to spark a little fire under you to make the needed improvements that actually get you some results. Test out new ideas and make those changes you've been putting off. As I review pages, I want to be inspired. Give us all a reason to be inspired by your website. I think THAT is a great place to start.
