What's New for Google Chrome: The Latest Updates You Need to Know!
(Title image by DALL-E 3)
Hi WA Friends!
Google Chrome has some cool new updates, which are all about making things safer and easier for you.
Let's have a quick look!
Passkeys Across Devices - Easy Security
First, let's talk about passkeys. You know how hard it is to remember all those passwords? Well, Google has made it a lot easier. Now, passkeys made with Google Password Manager will work on all your devices - Android, ChromeOS, macOS, Windows, and even Linux. You can sign in to apps and websites without typing in anything. Instead, you can use facial recognition, your fingerprint, or your screen lock. Pretty cool, right?
Google also made sure these passkeys are super secure. You can set up a Google Password Manager PIN to keep your passkeys encrypted, which means no one, not even Google, can see them. You can use a six-digit PIN or create a custom one with letters and numbers for extra security. Itโs all about keeping your logins safe but also easy.
Safety Check - Staying Safe Without the Hassle
If you're like me, you've probably clicked 'yes' on way too many pop-ups asking for permissions or notifications. Google understands that, so they made Safety Check even better to help keep you safe.
Here's what Safety Check does now: it automatically takes away permissions from websites you donโt use anymore, so they canโt track you. It also stops notifications that are annoying or abusive. Plus, it checks for any extensions that might be harmful. It even keeps an eye on weak passwords and lets you know where you need to make things stronger. Itโs like having a personal security guard for Chrome that works all the time without you even noticing.
Real-Time Protection Against Phishing and Malware - AI to the Rescue!
Last but not least, Google has boosted protection against phishing and malware. Chrome's Enhanced Protection now uses AI to spot sketchy websites, files, or extensions before you can click on them. Itโs like having a really smart friend who warns you before you make a mistake.
If you want to turn on this top-level security, just go to the Chrome menu at the top of your browser, click on Settings, then go to Privacy and Security, and choose Enhanced Protection under Safe Browsing. Itโs super easy and will give you extra peace of mind.

Great info Frank... much appreciated!!
Chrome is my main browser so I use it a lot each and every day!!
Any updates that make using it more secure are very welcome!
But... I still don't trust any software online to keep my passwords a secret!
That's what my little black book is for!!
Rock On!!

You're welcome, Nick.
I have almost 500 passwords between all my music, medical, biomedical engineering, healthcare informatics, online marketing, and social (family, friends, etc.) sites.
Imagine finding all those in a little black book while changing them routinely! ๐
Rock On! ๐ค

I appreciate the new info on this, Frank! Quite recently, I have already created the passkey on PayPal so when I login it would already know it's me logging in which is great. ๐ธ
Have a great Friday ahead!
