Hi WA Friends

Are you using Google's new Beta Search Generative Experience(SGE) to target your published content toward what Google believes is most helpful?

What is SGE?

If you're using Bing's AI Chat functionality, now called CoPilot, SGE is Google's experimental version.

Here's what Bard has to say about its AI search product.

SGE is an experimental feature from Google that uses generative AI to enhance your search experience in a few key ways:

1. AI-powered overviews: When you search for a topic, SGE might show you a concise overview summarizing the key points, different perspectives, and helpful information. This can save you time sifting through multiple sources.

2. Contextual insights: For local searches, SGE can use AI to generate insights that help you compare and explore options, like restaurants or attractions. This can be especially helpful when you're unfamiliar with an area.

3. Enhanced browsing: On Android devices, SGE can analyze web pages you're browsing and highlight key points or answer questions directly within the page. This saves you time scanning the entire page and helps you find specific information quickly.

Why is SGE helpful?

  • Faster: Get the gist of a topic or answer to a question quickly without digging through multiple sources.
  • More comprehensive: See different perspectives and helpful information you might miss with a basic search.
  • Easier exploration: Compare local options and find relevant details within web pages more efficiently.

Important points to remember:

  • SGE is currently in an experimental phase, available only in English and limited regions.
  • It's designed to complement traditional search results, not replace them.
  • Ads remain integrated but clearly distinguished from organic content.

Overall, SGE aims to leverage AI to make searching faster, more informative, and more contextual, potentially changing how you navigate the web in the future.

How to Use SGE With the Wealthy Affiliate AI Content Writer

When you do a Google search, SGE gives you a summary of the most helpful resources it thinks you should be aware of for that keyword, similar to using People Also Ask and Related Searches. However, SGE can sometimes give you an extra competitive advantage by pointing out things like articles Google thinks are important that may not appear on page one.

Check out the following example:

I'm searching the keyword: How does a guitar amplifier work? Notice that Google's generative AI produces the following output below (see the first red arrow).

If you click on the blue arrows, Google shows you that it considers the articles by Wikipedia, Rob Robinette, Roland, Pickupmusic, and Guitar World to be most helpful.

This coincides with the standard page one SERP results, except that the pickupmusic dot com article is only shown in SGE.

Therefore, I also take a look at pickupmusic dot com and make sure I include any relevant information from it into my new article.

So, you can then add this info to the "Add Content Details (information you may want to include in your content)" window of articles you generate in WA Hubs.

SGE also gives you the following video that you may want to embed in your article:

It's definitely worth a look if SGE is available in your geographic area!

I hope you find this helpful. Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments, AND ...

Good that you alert us of these new innovations. I would think that SGE would be very helpful in finding the exact topic you want to cover in your next post. I have lots of ideas, but appreciate ways in which I can narrow them down to the best one. Will have to try it out.

It's definitely something to check out, Fran! 👍😎

Great info Frank! This is something new for me. I’m gonna have to explore some things here!!

Thanks, Robin.

It can be pretty useful, depending on the circumstances. 😎

Frank 🎸

Awesome! I’ll check it out!

Sounds great! 👍😎

I quite like the thought of having the search all thought out before typing it in.

Thanks for the share, Frank!

You’re welcome, Myra. 😎

Glad you found it useful and I hope SGE is available in your area.

Frank 🎸

Oh yes, it's definitely available to me as I hope it is to you as well, Frank.

Myra 💜

It’s available throughout the USA so I’m good, Myra. 😎

Frank 🎸

That's great until it expands in the future.

“Google search” I feel isn’t what it used to be… most of the time it’s very frustrating because it’s trying to ‘assume’ it knows what I’m looking for. And I’m like NO please just limit the results ….please.

It makes it harder than it has to be to find simple things.

But I did find value in your post. Especially the ‘additional content’ to add for the AI authors input.

And understanding it’s ok to embed others YouTube videos that relate and provide value. That way we don’t have to feel like we always have to be the one to explain something. Less effort, less time consuming. Let me find a video that I like that provides that message and bam 💥 … all good to go!

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Holly

Yes, I thought the Google search results were better before the HCU.

Now, results seem more targeted toward giving summarized information and opinions.😎

What is there to stop Google from writing its own answer to any search request given to it and in doing so cut the traffic completely from our sites? I think it's even more important to secure different other sources of traffic than using Google alone.

I agree. This is just one aspect of the research we should be doing. 😎

Frank 🎸

Great information and thank you for your research!

You’re welcome, Michael.

I hope it helps! 😎

“These go to 11” 🎸

Haha, Steve, like all the best Marshall amps! 😂

The JCM 900 actually came with a master volume knob that went to “11” after the movie Spinal Tap!

Rock On! 🤘
