Hi, WA Friends!

Spoiler Alert!: This blog contains information on the tools that Canva has launched in their new WorkSuite. If you intend on watching the Canva Create II presentation, please do not read this!

(Disclaimer: I do not promote Canva)

Canva unleashed their new Visual WorkSuite today, and I have to say, my Rock N' Roll mind is blown!

This work suite is all about powering their design platform with AI!

Canva has unlocked what they call "ten magic gifts," one for each of the ten years that Canva has existed.

So, here they are with a brief description of their capabilities.

1. Magic Design

This tool allows you to describe what you want your design to say and look like. Canva will bring in ideas for templates, fonts, and graphics.

2. Magic Presentation

You can design a complete presentation easier than ever before using AI. Describe the layout of your presentation, and Canva will show you ideas to make it happen!

3. Draw

An AI-mediated idea processor for brainstorming by hand-drawing ideas and flowcharts. It's object-oriented, which means, for example, if you draw a sloppy square, Canva will replace it with a perfectly shaped one.

4. Magic Write

This is their updated version 2.0 on steroids, which incorporates AI and can be implemented across the entire Canva platform!

5. Translate

Automatically translate your text into more than 1,000 different languages! I had no idea that there are currently around 6,500 languages worldwide! I only know three: English, Italian, and Music.

6. Text To Image

This tool uses AI to change text into images, much like OpenAI's DALLยทE 2 platform. The results are incredible!

7. Magic Edit

Use AI to add visuals, remove areas of an image, and add text from Magic Write. For example, you can erase one of two people in an image, and it will fill in the background correctly. Many other tools are available, like scaling areas inside an image, etc.

8. Create An Animation

Updates Canva's old automation tool to use AI. Quickly and easily animate an object in an image by drawing its path of movement with your mouse or finger. Many other intuitive ways to perform complex animations.

9. Beat Synch

Automatically synchronizes music to a presentation or animation using AI. You can upload your soundtrack or choose one from Canva's library.

10. Brand Hub

Canva considers beat hub their biggest gift of the ten. It updates its Brand Kit to give you one place to make, market, and manage your company's brand. It integrates throughout every area of the Canva platform. Additionally, it allows people outside your organization to create visual and written content while automatically staying on brand with your color palettes, templates, font selections, etc.

Brand Hub can do things like:

  • Add Brand guidelines
  • Brand photos
  • Create brand templates
  • Implement brand controls

That's just a small look at the new Canva. It doesn't even begin to describe what this platform can do! The only way to find out is to check it out for yourself!

AI is changing the world we live in a little each day.

Hi Frank,

Great overview!! I watched it live yesterday. It's really exciting to see what they are bringing out! And I love the ethos of the company as well.

Even though we had already had access to some of these new tools, even they have been improved. So, for instance, if I had just seen this list I might have thought well I used "Text to Image" here before, but now instead of just being square, you have horizontal or verticle images, and there are many more precepts. So much to play with!

All the best, Julia

Thanks, Julia! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yes, I think Canva is rapidly becoming the go-to tool for everything design-related.

I plan to use the new Canva โ€œText To Imageโ€ functionality in my guitar siteโ€™s featured image and content designs.

Great image, by the way. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Love that!!!

Good morning Frank,

I hope you're doing well.

Thank you for the heads up, I had my name down for the Canva webinar, but missed it! I guess there may be a replay; there normally is.

The features sound very good, I don't know how technical it is to use the features. Something that I really like about Canva is the common sense way in which it works.

Have a great day.

Roy

Hi, Roy

Yes, the stream will be available for replay.

The real power of Canva is how easy it is to design stuff and the AI-based updates should only make everything better. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

BTW, how is the guitar playing coming?

Good morning Frank,

Thank you for your reply; it's appreciated.

I have literally just checked my inbox and the stream is available, as you rightly said.

I really need to carry out some more learning was Canva, as, like so many platforms, I believe it has a lot to offer. I am only really touching the surface at the moment. It will be interesting to see what the updates can do.

I have to say that the guitar playing is non-existent! I was only thinking yesterday that I had not picked up my guitar for ages. However, at the moment, I probably need to focus on building my online business. I hope it's something that will happen in the future, though, as in the guitar playing.

Have a great weekend.

Hi, Roy

You'll have great fun with the New Canva. It's as easy to use as the old one but way more powerful!

Pick up that guitar when you take a 15-minute break from your work, and you'll be surprised how much playing-time it will amount to at the end of the week! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Also, if you're watching WA webinars or TV, remember to grab your guitar!

Good morning Frank,

Thank you for your reply and the useful information, it's appreciated.

I need to take a look at the Canva webinar. To be fair, I have never looked at any of Canva's training, that's probably a mistake on my part!

You're right about the guitar, Frank, I know what a difference it makes just picking up the guitar a few minutes every day. Also, if we are in front of the screen for several hours, the guitar makes a welcome therapeutic break.

I like the idea of picking up the guitar while watching webinars, it's something that I kind of used to do.

I still haven't purchased that small practice amp yet, do you have any recommendations, please? I just want something small and compact that will allow me to pick up my guitar, easily. I'm sure there are literally thousands of options on the market.

Wishing you a great Sunday.

Roy

Hi, Roy

I would bring your guitar to your local music store and try a few amps to see what you like best.

You can go with a small combo amp, or one of the really small โ€œmicro-amps.โ€

You donโ€™t have to spend a lot of money. There are many good choices for practice amps in the 50 to 100 dollar range.

I also play quite a bit for small periods of time without plugging a guitar into an amp.

Whatever works for you is fine.

Hello Frank,

Thank you for the info, I do really appreciate it as I know you know what you are talking about. I did used to have a small practice amp, going over to a friend as I was using the guitar port on my computer.

I was looking on Amazon yesterday and came across a small Fender amplifier, which had good reviews. Here is the link, which is not an affiliate link, it just looks a bit long. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001L8PIFW/?coliid=IFOYI1DYNNQSJ&colid=U1DS3F5YZ8KE&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I really like the idea of using my computer, but after spending some time trying to set up the software over Christmas, I think probably a little practice amp is the answer for the time being.

A very happy Monday to you.

Roy

1

Hi, Roy

Yeah, I think the Fender Frontman 10G is a great choice. I've played through Frontman amps, and they really Rock for the money! However, it's currently "unavailable" on Amazon UK.

It's got a headphone jack and an "aux-in" for playing with backing tracks.

The Gain control will add "Overdrive" (and even a bit of creamy distortion if your guitar has humbucker pickups), so you can really rip through some wicked guitar soloing! Haha! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž

1

Good morning Frank,

I hope you're well. Thank you for your reply.

That's good, it's always good to learn from the experts and someone with good knowledge like yourself, thank you! I think the reason it's telling you it's not available is due to the fact that you are in the US! I just checked and it's available here, unless they were out of stock for a short period.

The headphone socket is definitely a useful feature and so is the auxiliary in. I don't know if that would include an auxiliary in from a PC? So that I could play tracks from my computer, via the amp and then into the headphones.

I used to have a Fender valve amp, I can't remember the model number or name. It was a good amplifier, I believe.

Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it.

Have a great day and keep on rocking!

Roy

1

Hi, Roy

Yes, you could run an analog audio out signal from a PC sound card or a laptop headphone into the aux jack on the Fender amp.

I mostly play through valve amps. They sound and perform best.

1

Good morning Frank,

Thank you for the info; I do appreciate it. That sounds like a good idea.

I have always been told that valve amps have a better sound. I'm guessing with modern electronics, non-valve amps have moved forward? I used to have a 40 Watt Fender valve amp, I can't remember which model it was, though; I know it was quite a popular amp at the time.

Have a great day.

Roy

1

Hi, Roy

Yes, โ€œmodelingโ€ can mimic the sound of valve amps very nicely, especially with the newer high definition simulations. I have several Line-6 (the makers of the guitar port you used) guitar amps that sound great.

I also have hundreds of high def digital amp and effects pedal plugins for my recording studio.

Iโ€™ll say that, although most listeners cannot tell the difference, most guitarists can.

The digital models still sound less organic and change the โ€œfeelโ€ of the way a guitar plays when itโ€™s plugged into a good valve amp.

The great thing about digital modeling is that you can change the workable parameters of a classic sound.

For example, you want a Blackface Fender Deluxe Reverb (valve amp) sound, but you want a more naturally saturated sound.

You donโ€™t have to put an overdrive pedal between the guitar and amp, as you would need to do in the real world.

You can change the parameters of the digital model of the amp so that it now has a โ€œGainโ€ control in itโ€™s preamp section in front of the tone stack.

Itโ€™s a lot of fun to tweak digital models for hours to get practically any sound you can imagine, but you wonโ€™t get much guitar playing done.

BTW, in the US, we call valves tubes. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

1

Good morning Frank,

I do appreciate your comprehensive and detailed answer, it's always good to learn from people who have learned so much over the years! Thank you.

I appreciate that, in general, a guitarist's or musician's ear is much better than the average listener's ear! I know exactly where you are coming from.

I can believe that the electronic type of sound has much to offer, I believe it could be quite time-consuming. Maybe sometimes it's just better to have the traditional amp and foot pedals!

It sounds like you have an absolutely amazing set up, Frank! How wonderful to have something like you have, I'm sure that it's taken many years of hard work to build your setup together. Well done for making it happen! May you have many, many years of pleasure from the fruits of your labour.

I did not realise that valves are referred to as tubes in the US!๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽธ

Have a fantastic weekend.

Roy

1

Hi, Roy

Yeah, the digital recording studio is a lot of fun, but I'm too busy to use it very often, so I mostly stick to playing guitar through a tube amp with some effects pedals.

"Toys" are great, but the most thing is to pick up a guitar every day, at least once, and play!

The proper name for a tube is actually "vacuum tube" because it looks like a glass tube with a vacuum, obviously.

I prefer the name "valve" because it describes how it works by using a small voltage and current (power) to regulate a larger one.

Rock On! ๐Ÿค˜
Frank ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐ŸŽธ

1

Good morning Frank,

I can imagine the recording studio is a huge amount of fun. However, I think this is the case for many people when we have something we really want and then we don't have the time to use it! But it must be wonderful when you do have time to use it.

Yes, I hear you regarding toys and practising every day, that makes a lot of sense! Boys toys are good, but............. !

Okay, I'm learning something every day, I must admit I have never heard of vacuum tubes, but I understand where you're coming from!

Wishing you a great Sunday and very happy playing.

Roy

1

Hi, Roy

Haha, so now when you see the terminology tube amp or vacuum tube amp, you'll know it's just a valve amp. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Good morning Frank,

I hope you're doing well.

Exactly! I can actually make myself feel intelligent now!๐Ÿ˜ƒ I wonder what they refer valve amps to in Spinal Tap!?

Have a great day and keep rocking!

Roy

1

Haha, a great movie, if there ever was one!

It gave us the Marshall amp with the volume knob that went to โ€œ11!โ€

The movie definitely uses the word โ€œvalve.โ€

Rock On! ๐Ÿค˜
Frank ๐ŸŽธ

1

I agree, Frank, I thought it was absolutely hilarious, fantastic!

It certainly did give us the Marshall amp was the volume knob that went to 11!

This is a true story. One of the lead band members lived in a nearby village; I can't remember which one it was now. He was supposed to open the village fรชte, however, he forgot to turn up!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Have a great day.

Roy

1

Haha, I can just see that happening, Roy! ๐Ÿ˜‚

The Marshall JCM 900 amp featured a second gain control that went from 11 to 20. After the movie they just couldnโ€™t resist! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Rock On! ๐Ÿค˜
Frank ๐ŸŽธ

1

I couldn't believe it when I first heard it, Frank, but it was true!

Really! I did not know that, it's amazing how companies have a boost from a kind of joke!

A very happy Easter to you.

๐Ÿ‘Happy Easter, Roy! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŽธ

Oh, my, a whole new thing to learn...how can we get old when we keep being bombarded with new tools we need to learn to use?

I have Canva Pro; have used the original platform a lot and really like it. Now I'll have to go and look at this new addition. Thanks for the information, Frank.

3

Thatโ€™s what keeps us young, Fran! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

If you like Canva Pro, youโ€™ll love the new updates! ๐Ÿ‘

2

Will check it out for sure.

2

๐Ÿ‘

Yes, it's exciting news. I love using Canva. I have tried Magic Write, and it is pretty cool. I also recently discovered that Canva has landing pages. I haven't used them yet, so I'm not sure how they work, but they do look pretty cool. Either way, thanks for sharing the Canva update...

4

Hi, Lakisha

The landing pages are even better with the new Canva design tools! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž

3

Thanks for sharing Frank.

I think Canva is brilliant and I think I have mastered it to a level where I can create great images in just a couple of minutes.

I'm not sure that Ai is going to better this but I'm intrigued to find out.

Any idea when this is going live?

Cheers
Mick

3

It's live, Mick!

I've noticed little changes in the platform over the past week, but they released the entire package today. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

3

Cheers Frank, I'm going in there now
